Garage Project Before and After.....
Garage Project Before and After.....
OK, So I bought my house back in July of 2006. One of the many reasons I fell in love with the house was the fact that it had potential. The house was a huge mess but I knew I would be able to tackle the house one room at a time. All of us married guys here with kids know there is not many rooms that a man can claim his own. One room is the Garage. With that said, I tried my best to take this nasty, oil infested nightmare and turn it into a man cave/garage.
I had some major prep-work to do on the floor as the previous owner had a car that leaked like a bastard. I took a cement grinder and ground down the floor to make sure the epoxy would stick. The garage is 680 square feet total (2.5 car) and it has plenty of room for the cars and a little room area to hang out in and work or just chill out. I hope you enjoy the pics from before and after.
Here is the walls and work space area before... Notice the nasty floor............

The floor after.......................

The work bench was made out of old elevator doors..........

Gotta have a TV with cable hooked up to a surround sound system...........

The work bench and I also used the extra epoxy to paint the pegboard and shelves.........

Need a computer that is hooked up to the internet...........

15 inch sub speakers hanging in the ceiling and the front speakers on the wall.............

Crown molding to give it a nice touch....................

A view from the workbench..............

The final view. I love the old houses where they made enough room between the cars so you can open your door all the way without hitting the walls...

Thanks guys, I figured it's been almost two years since I have lived here and never got a chance to do a little write up...
Yes Bearcat good eye on the box....When are we installing it??
Agreed the crown molding definitely is a little much but that was a perk from a good built house. It's been there since 1987. The old owner came back to drop off some paperwork and dropped his jaw to the floor when he saw the garage.

Thanks guys, the garage was a lot of work but with a little money and a lot of long hours at night (with a beer or two) it's finally done. I hope some of you out there get a chance to epoxy the floors and update the lighting. It is so worth the effort. It makes it more of a room you park your cars in, then a garage you throw your shit in.

No AC or heat. NC is a hot state but not for too long. I am going to build above the garage so when that time comes, I am going to add ac in it then. It really will make a difference in the end. In TX it's a must as I know how hot it can get there.
Cool. Looks good.
I would love to do that once I get a real house of my own. I did get a chance to clean my garage a couple weeks ago and it looks 10x better. And when I get my new receiver, I would be hooking speakers up in the garage.

^ actually (you don't know this yet) but i'm going to bribe you to install my p2r throttle body spacer and gasket when they arrive! i have the full diy printed out and it should be no more than a 45 min job. sorry j, but ima have to abuse your skills while i play up the gimp card lol
Thanks guys for the comments as always. Vinny, yes it is my B-day today. The big 33. I think Bearcat is coming over for a beer tonight so you, Jack, Eric are more than welcome. It is starting after 5:00. I hope the weather holds out.
looks nice!
i just finished my parents' garage floor.
powerwashed it, then cleaner/degreaser and more powerwashing, then etching chemical and more powerwashing, then primer, then put on the epoxy and scattered some decorative flakes.
took a few days but it turned out great.
also just stained their deck and wow what a difference.

I went back today to sweep up the flakes that didn't stick (it said to do this), and I'm surprised at how many swept up!
I scattered them within a few minutes of painting, so I don't think it dried too fast.
The flakes were embedded just fine in some places, and they came right up in others.
I noticed the black flakes stuck a lot better than the white and blue.
Overall, the coverage is fine, but some areas up to even 2x2 feet are completely empty of flake.
I really don't want to paint again just to fill in some spots, but I'm not sure what else to do.
