Finally...pics of my basement project

Took a long time to get to this point.

Main room (can you tell I have kids)

The black panel in the corner is a chalkboard I built. It hides the water meter and shutoff valves

Closets - Closetmaid shelving
Small closet, currently filled with toys

Built my wife a small craft area in the small closet. I made a fold-down table which I still need to install.

Large closet

Landing - did wainscoting to hide a concrete wall
Like the golf club coat rack? Built that a few years ago

Very Nice. I had never seen the shelves be used with those support brackets. I had always repeated the kind that came with my home(s) where you have the angled (45 degree?) support brackets - I like yours better - you do not lose that space under the shelf where the bracket goes and it looks like it can hold a lot more weight since you are hitting every stud. Nice work - very clean.

Seriously, never seen those brackets. They're made by Closetmate I think. You can find them at any hardware shop. They can be a bit expensive. I just redid both my closets with them. Very handy because you can easily adjust the heights of the shelves and pretty much attach anything to them. I have a bunch of shelves, drawers, clothing rods and show racks attached to them.

And, although I'm not planning on testing it, I can probably take a nap on one of mine. I hit all 4 studs with 3 inch screws.

I love the way it looks. Really neet. Although, I think the kids will probably help you mess it up a bit.

Looks really great.

Mine is just sitting there... But as Scrib Jr. gets older... I'll be glad it's already done!

Nice work!

Isn't that beadboard? I thought wainscoting was different.

Regardless, nice work!

The brackets cost a freakin mint. I paid $8 a piece for the 20" brackets and I think I'm using ~50 of them. The 16" ones I used ~30 them + all the wall brackets + the shelving.

I'm thinking we spent over $1000 just for the shelving.

The nice thing about the shelf brackets is they have a hook at the end closest to the wall that keeps the shelving material in place.

The only time I had seen them used was when a wooden shelf was put on them - did not know they had a similar bracket to be used with the wire shelving - nice.

I think I spent about $500 on my 2 closets. But, they are really worth it. I also forked out the cash for the track that goes on the top for one of the rooms.

Yeh. If you are re-doing any closet or shelfing, I highly recommend them.

I think I started the project in July.

My father and I did the rough framing and rough electrical in 2 long days.

It took me from late July till now to completely finish it. 2 kids (3 and 1) and a lot of long nights and weekends.

If I had to guess, it's probably about 2 man-months of work.

Yeah you have to buy the Closetmaid ones, not the Rubbermaid ones.
