We have almost the identical cabinets - love em. Looks great.

 

Did you add any handles or pulls? The original owners didn't because they said they'd make the cabinets look too busy. They also had some young kids, so it helped keep them out. Not sure if we're going to add any.

 

What type of pulls are you thinking of - something brushed/stainless or maybe matched inlaid wood?

edit - I don't know what inlaid wood is but it sort of sounds like what I'm thinking of

The pics look great. Did you have any issues matching the new hardwood to the old? We are planning on doing something similar, but want to re-finish the existing wood also because it is a little too orange for our tastes. We prefer darker wood like cherry, and I know it probably won't get to that color, but I'm a little concerned about the new matching the old, especially after refinishing the existing.

The inspection went well on Wednesday. We were supposed to receive mortgage papers via courier yesterday, but they never arrived. I'm hoping the lady just forgot to check the Saturday delivery box.....hopefully there were no snags with the mortgage.

The closing is tentatively scheduled for January 15th.

 

I'm not sure what to even look at ATM. Maybe brushed nickel, but not anything too plain or too decorative.

The inlaid wood idea (and I think that is the right term) might be worth looking into. Thanks.

Now I just need to "learn" how to cook with gas.

The new wood doesn't match exactly, but isn't too noticable unless you are looking for it. It's more noticable at the threshhold than in the hall/closet. The staining helps blend things in more than just going natural.

Glad to hear about the inspection. Don't fret over the courier. We had ALL kinds of things happen with our paperwork, but it all ended well enough. Keep us posted!

I think we have the identical tumbled stone backsplash.

 

My parents' tumbled stone looks a whole lot like that, too.

 

I'm actually thinking maybe a dark color wrought iron twisted pull would look nice. I don't think knobs would look great because of the pattern/texture on the cabinets.

The tumbled marble/stone was pretty popular - I even tiled the backsplash in the condo using tumbled marble.

subinf - That might actually work out. Thanks for the idea. I'll look in that and maybe buy a few different styles and see what works.

 

I don't think flat black is the best color but I think this might look good.

Just went to the mall for lunch and a remodel place just opened up. They had nearly identical cabinets with knobs and pulls similar to these:



Looked pretty good. Didn't stand out too much, but kind of blended in. The "openness" of the pulls seemed to work. Not sure about which finish, though.

 

Yes we have brushed nickel knobs on ours. Looks great IMO (but that is why we did it)
