Driveway Input Needed
Make sure you account for proper drainage around those bricks and pavers. Wouldn't want them sliding down in case CA ever gets some rain. Adhesive works well but hot weather and overall time does degrade performance.
Putting in some thought out drain channels to route water around would be beneficial.

I forgot to include drainage in my sketch - Thanks for pointing that out Sam!
Southern California apparently is right on target for one hell of an El Nino this year, so drainage is definitely a concern
Skipping a row or two of bricks & putting a channel draining the water into the backyard is the plan.

If you want my opinion, I'd add vertical (in direction of slope) channels by having some columns of brick spaced apart to create water channels that go down to the lowest point. There you can install a perforated pipe culvert to drain the water to one side or another as far as you can away from the house.
If you really want to get fancy, you can do a herringbone patter and angle all of the brick away from the house.
