This thread is convincing me that I need to build for my next house. There are just so many custom things I want...like a dog wash station lol.

If I ever get the chance to do an addition to my house, there will be room for a dog wash station and that is a must with 2 active dogs that love to be outside year round, especially when it is muddy...

Deck is in progress.

Trex Spiced Rum and black aluminum Trex Signature railing. The railing will tie in really well with the fence.

Spoke with the builder yesterday, things are moving quick. House will be done maybe 2nd week January. Should have some cabinets next weekend, and we have to select our light fixtures.

Yard will have to wait for spring.

Barnwood samples for custom barn doors.

Master shower in progress.

Starting to introduce the dogs to the new place. Also view out master bedroom.

Back of the house is really coming close to being done.

Ranger likes it.

That shower looks like the size of a small room

Old wood barn style doors will be a nice touch.

Wife went way over budget on the tile. I am waiting for her to fall in love with it before I break that to her.

Builder gave us the option of prefab or custom reclaimed for the barn doors. He loves doing the work so we went reclaimed.

He is also going to do some box beams in our bedroom and we might do a shiplap finish above the mantle.

Our philosophy on this place was no unnecessary rooms on the first floor.... and go big on the spaces we want to use all the time.

Defintely makes tons of sense. I feel houses sometimes have way too many "speciatly areas" in standard floor plans that I would have no use for in regular daily life. Better to have that space in the frequently used areas like you have done.

This was my biggest issue when I was shopping - so many floorplans have rooms that you'll use twice a year, at best - it's inefficient.

Some say the cost savings are so great, it takes the number 2 spot too.

Didn’t get one. A spatula in a water bucket is much cheaper.

Wasn’t much to show last week — doors and trim materials had arrived. This week— lots of progress. Most of the tile grout is in, extra topsoill is gone, and cabinets are in.

Front hall tree instead of a closet.

Kitchen island.

Dog wash and utility sink cabinet.

My vanity and linen cabinet.

Kitchen cabinets

Jack and Jill double vanity.

Mrs. svt’s vanity.

Bookcases.

Master shower all grouted.

I'm loving the contrast between the island and the cabinets in the kitchen! It's coming along great!

Just beautiful.

Do like that latest trend of doing seperate island color from the regular cabinets.

Thanks guys. Getting the Mrs. to use different stains and different metals (sometimes even in the same room) was getting her way our of her comfort zone. We're probably six weeks from taking possession, 11 weeks from having furniture, 5 months to sod and fence, 7 months from having a complete lawn.

Soooo excited.

I like your style, sir. It's gorgeous. The exterior stone, bookcases, white kitchen wall cabinets, front door. The interior finish of your screened porch is beautiful, too. And yes, I envy the dog wash station! Nice touch. I can't believe you're almost there!

No pics today -- everything was covered up because the painter was working.

Stair railings are in.
Trim carpentry is complete.
All counter-tops are in.
Ship lap and trim carpentry over the fireplace is in.
Rain gutters being installed.
Ready to install kitchen backsplash.

Since we won't have a yard until spring we have a section of the yard fenced off with snow fence and covered with hay so the dogs have somewhere to go.

Occupancy permit expected by the end of the month.
