Earth-bound misfit
Yay for Mikey's hole!
It is going to be Trex but without gaps... builder says bugs won’t be able to get in. I don’t expect to be out there much in the depths of winter.
Everybody who sees the plan falls for the porch. One of our friends says she and her husband are going to move into our basement so she can use it.
Perfect. Our builders continued with the gaps in the porch. They put screen underneath to keep the bugs out, but it doesn't do anything for the draft, of course. I wish I had thought of it at the time. If there were a fireplace in the porch, I'd be throwing elbows at your friends!

Framing continues. Main floor is done; front and back porches, roof and attic storage are all in progress.

Wet and muddy today so we stayed in the car.
Picked roof color, flooring, working on Hardie board color(s) and stone selections.
Cabinet guy was out a couple weeks ago, taking measurements. After a few looked at the builder and said “I like this framing crew.”
Roof is sheathed.

Congrats Mike, looks like it's going to be a great place!!
When's the electric scheduled to install, and did you customize it at all or are you mostly going with what they suggest?

We will do a complete walkthrough before the electricians start to decide on switch/outlet placement. We discussed the location of the meter and the panel (and sump and rough-in and future basement bedroom suite layout and mechanical) during architecture, and he knows that I need 220 in my basement workshop. I still need to get myself a decent idea of what the shop layout will be so I get those in the right places.

That's good. I suggest adding any electric you can possibly think of before the drywall goes up. Hopefully they are good at what they do and not going for speed only. And for future reference, take pics of each wall when all wiring/plumbing is finished and before drywall goes up.

I did a wall reference photo set when we built this house... it has been very useful over the years.
We went with a high end builder and have been very impressed with his subcontractors. He definitely emphasizes the quality of the work and materials.

Roof should sprout shingles this week. Basement has gravel fill and vapor barrier; maybe the concrete slab floor will get poured too.
We selected the front stone on Saturday and pick out our appliances tomorrow night. Gratuitous Audizine shot below.

Roof is on, basement floor is poured, staircases are in, interior framing is pretty much done, and deck footings are poured.
Builder says windows should be in this week. Rough plumbing and HVAC too.

Stogie -- we're getting there on the finish items. The last thing we picked was our appliances (a suite of matching KitchenAid stuff in black stainless steel with an induction cooktop). Still have to pick tiles, colors for cabinets, and the like.
Rockstar -- this is our third time around. By far the best experience so far, also the highest-end home we've built.

Plumbing is roughed in, and lumber for the deck framing is on site. Progress on the fireplace too.
First picture is the fireplace in the family room, second is the portion of the attic over the 2 car garage stall, and the third is the view through what will be the window sides of the screen porch.

We have windows, exterior doors, garage floors are poured, front porch is poured, electrical/data in progress, back porch walls, a furnace, septic, and the well gets drilled on Monday.
Hoping to hit an aquifer at 400 ft down instead of 750 ft down to save well over 7 figures (12000.00).
Front elevation with windows.
View out of the master.
Garage floors are in.
Front porch from where I will keep whippersnappers off my lawn.
