dishwasher installation (easier than you think)

i'm installing a new dishwasher. instructions state that the white and black wires are paired together. problem is that i have 1 grey cable w/3 conductors. 1 conductor has a green jacket so i know that one is ground. the other conductors are labeled W and Z. I'm assuming W is for white but does anyone know fo sho?

BTW, if you guys have the time to install the dishwasher yourself do it
There are only 3 connections:
return to the garbage disposal
eletrical
hot water
after those 3 things are done just level it and you're good to go
bestbuy wanted $100 for the installation i think plumbers charge $50

I didn't want to give advice and then have to post... "Anyone seen Mike in the last couple of weeks" Glad it worked out for you.

That sounds like a strange setup to me... What kind of dishwasher is it?? I've hooked up many different kinds of dishwashers at work and have never seen any like this...

Since this dishwasher thread already exists, I'll ask here...
Is it feasable to install a dishwasher yourself where there was no dishwasher before? If so, how difficult is it?

I will soon be in a home with no dishwasher in the kitchen and I NEED to add one, would prefer to do it myself...

You are gong to need carpentry skills to cut the hole in the cabinet, else your cabinet will look like hell.

You also need plumbing and electrical skills. You need to run a hot water line from your sink to the machine as well as hook up a dishwasher drain adapter under the sink. Then you get to put an electrical outlet behind the dishwasher.
