If you had to do it over again would you still have gone with Azek or wood?

This stuff is solid PVC.

I love the clean look of this product. Wood is significantly cheaper but I didn't think it matched the look of the house.

1) Did not want a brown colored deck
2) Brian was not paying for my deck

Referring to basic pressure-treated lumber.
Yeah, could have gone with Ipe, mahogany, cedar, tumaru, tigerwood, garapa......but didn't like the wood look.

Oh ok. They must not make this stuff anymore then. When we were shopping to do our deck, it was all composite or composite wrapped in solid plastic.

Does the PVC turn into a squeaky wet noodle in the summer time? That makes sense on why it discolors over time though, PVC is notorious for changing colors as time goes on in almost every application where it's exposed to light.

We get some pretty nasty sun in the afternoon that faded the decking.
If you look you'll see that only the 10' boards faded. My guess is a bad batch of pigment.
The stairs got severely scuffed up from the kid's soccer cleats.

The first two pics (with the cover on the table) show the fading. It's pretty bad.

So long story short, we found a product called DeckMax Revitalizer. It's a PVC deck restorer. It's not cheap but it claims to works.
I started by powerwashing the deck. I used one of those rotary scrubber attachments to really deep clean the boards. They have a wood-grain to them so it holds dirt.
After that I let it dry overnight.
Next morning I followed the instructions and applied a fairly wet coat of Deckmax with a microfiber pad.
I'll let the after pics prove it.
Like night and day.
Very happy with the results.
There is definitely a color variance between the 10' and 12' boards but at least Deckmax blended it in much better.

Click the pictures twice to zoom in.
Bummer about the Azek decking. I almost went with them for our boat house (to cover the 40 year old less than straight and smooth concrete) because they were highly recommended, but last min i decided to go with Trex. Trex "had" a small QC issue a while back but everything ive installed (for friends) in the past 8 years has held up great without issues. Hopefully it holds up.

(dont mind my dad enjoying a drink on the newly finished top while waiting for the grand kids to come by tubing) i need to get an updated pic with it completed with railing.
