Closed 9/30. Here's a MLS photo...I haven't gotten around to taking pictures yet. It's nice and comfy so far. The garage is filled with our crap (using it as a staging area), but other than that, it didn't take long to get the place in order.

Home ownership = learn to love Lowe's. lol. I've already dropped a grand in that place (the washer died, new grill, etc.). I picked up an arbor pole/saw to trim the branches close to the house. That thing was pretty cool to tinker with.

You are going to need a leaf blower, and not a wimpy one. Congrats, it looks great.

Thanks. Yeah... I picked up a Honda mower that actually does a great job of picking the leaves up. Just extra trips to the woods to dump the bag out.

I'm sure your wife won't mind the extra trips...

Congrats! Where in Va are you? Looks like you either have a very tall ceiling in the garage or a huge attic above it. Very nice.

edit: If that were mine I'd already be smelling the scent of a master bedroom suite addition above the garage.

Thanks. Northern Virginia. The ceiling in the garage is very tall.

I think a lift would be a nice touch someday.

hey guys, so its tax time. and I'm seeing reports that I can deduct my closing costs somehow. is this true? (I paid the entire amount myself). I would really appreciate any input. I've looked online and am finding conflicting information. I sure as hell would love to be able to! thanks in advance.

Yes, I remember claiming closing costs, even though they were paid buy someone else. I recommend, using TurboTax.

thanks, I just tried using Turbotax and there was nothing in it about closing costs. I must have missed it? I don't know. I think I am going to ask an accountant, I want to make sure I am getting everything I can.

yeah thats what it suggested to me. does it actually say 'closing costs' somewhere? all I saw was mortgage interest, mortgage insurance, and maybe one other thing.

It will walk you through your taxes almost step for step, closing costs is a question it should ask you.
