Closing...
Closing...
On my first home today. It's a 2br/2ba condo in west loop Chicago, just west of Union Station. It's a daunting experience, I just hope everything goes through without too much trouble. I'll have a 5 min walk to work (in the loop).
Feel free to wish me luck, and also any last minute pointers or things to watch out for or be prepared for would be nice.

I just closed a couple weeks ago. I felt a heavy weight on my chest after but since moving the furniture in it feels great! Yay Debt!
The title agent will give you the rundown on the list.. the GFE should be very close to your actual closing costs. Also when you sign all the papers, make sure you write out your full name not a shorthand signature.
Congrats & GL!

thanks guys. well, I had a curveball thrown at me.... my wire transfer didn't go through in the morning because of a measly stinking $30-some dollar autopayment to People's Gas that went through over the weekend, that I was not aware of (until today). But I got everything signed and the loan is complete - except for the wire transfer. So have to confirm that transfer tomorrow morning and then go back to the title place to seal the deal. Coordinating the movers and freight elevator along with these complications has been a total bitch. :-/
On top of this, Chase was effectively useless in helping to expedite the issue as far as the wire transfer process was concerned. There was a point where they kept transferring calls in a circular manner it was really annoying. But it fits my impression of them and many other big businesses, their customer support is fine, as long as you don't encounter a complication which requires any kind of quick action and/or resolution. Anyways hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I will post more pics soon. It did come with a garage spot, I really needed one so that was integral in my shopping.
my unit is the first completely visible balcony at the bottom - its a corner, 10th floor.

here is my view to the south - not spectacular but considering I was seeing places that had either no view or the view of a wall (and/or no balcony), I can't complain.

Nice location. I worked at Jackson-LaSalle back when I was in HS 100 years ago. I was in the building just west of the Chagall artwork, it was Continental Illinois National Bank back then. So you are also near the Board of Trade?
haha thnks - I have a good number of friends in the area, one of them lives 2 blocks away and I can actually see his balcony from mine - its hilarious. PLENTY of viewing "options", for sure. It's a good thing I am not a voyeur...
nice, good luck on yours hope it goes well. and, thanks.
