Closed Today, Moving Some Things In Tomorrow

Well, the deal is finally done as of tonight. My man closed on the house. We are so relieved all is said and done now. It's been a very long road, including a few bumps with Wells Fargo.

I ran around like crazy tonight, trying to get all the essentials sorted out and packed up in the car. Just moving kitchenware, cleaning supplies, and bedding up to the house tomorrow. I have a long weekend of cleaning ahead of me. My bf is working all weekend, so I'm on my own for the cleaning, but he'll join me for pizza on the floor tomorrow night.

Here she is:

It's 10 years old, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths on 1.8 acres. Backs up to a farm.

We won't fully move in for a couple of months yet. Looks like we'll probably re-do the floors and paint first. So it's more of a gradual move-in process.

Congrats! That looks like a great place, plenty of room to spread out in. I remember reading your previous thread and the issues you were having. Glad you were able to find something that worked out for you (and in my opinion, appears better than some of those other houses you described).

Speaking of that...people keep asking me when mine is. I tell them, when I feel the house is in a condition to party in .

Thanks, guys! It was a hectic weekend full of packing/unpacking/cleaning etc. My back is killing me! And there is sooooo much more to do.

At least traffic was light on the way up and not too bad on the way back, either. It's about 1 hour and 20 minutes each way with no traffic problems.

The neighbors thought the house got robbed because my bf's coworkers wanted to see the house, so there were 4 troop cars parked in the driveway early Saturday morning before I got there. Haha.

About that....we still need to purchase a lawn mower.

The previous owners did leave a bunch of garden tools, though, so that'll help a little bit.

Yes, feeling the backache big time. I think I'm going to pop a Celebrex soon. Sleeping on an air mattress last night probably didn't help, either.

Probably this summer after we get things in order. BBQ!!

Congratulations on your purchase! If I had to do it all over again I would not recommend Wells Fargo as a mortgage lender due to my last experience with them.

Thanks! Heating is oil. We also have a propane tank for the dryer.

Yeah, we definitely were not pleased with Wells Fargo. I'm not sure it would be much different with another bank, but we will probably not use them again.

Yes, it was a long time! It will be great after we're moved in and comfortable. We still have to buy family room furniture, so it'll be a while yet, but we'll get there eventually.

1.8 acres? I'd make sure it's a tractor. Contact Water-S for a great price on a Deere.

Pics from my Flickr account (taken back in December). There's a lot of updating to do, but we'll take it slow. Have to build up the savings again.

Definitely. I was hoping the previous owners would leave the one they had, but it's gone. Probably sold it. They did leave a wheelbarrow, spreader, and some other random tools, though.

We need a shed, too. The other people only had one car, so they kept the lawnmower, snow blower, etc. in the extra space in the garage.

Really nice rear view on the house. I love the walk-out basement. Interior will warm right up with a modern paint pallette. Add some stone textures, and either SS or black appliances and Bob's your uncle. That'll keep you busy for years.

Don't forget to ditch the bright brass stuff too. I don't want to be the only one who spent a small fortune switching everything over to oil-rubbed bronze.

Yup, definitely needs a fresh coat of paint on every wall. It'll look a lot better after that. I would also like to swap out all the brass stuff. All the little things will make a big difference in modernizing the house, although, all those 'little' things add up, too. We need all new light fixtures, too. The kitchen light over where the table should go is ok, as is the foyer chandelier, so we might leave those for now. The rest need to be updated badly. The fixtures in the bathrooms are just the basic light bulbs sticking out of a mirrored rectangle.

My friend has about an acre for his backyard.. Tell your husband these steps..

1) Drink beer
2) Fill trash bag with ice
3) Drink beer
4) Put beer in trash bag
5) Drink beer
6) Start mowing the lawn
7) Drink beer
