A/C not working well at condo
Hi guys!
Just had a quick question.
So, my wife and I are living in this condo unit in LA.
Recently noticed that our A/C isn't really working well. Even when we turn it on with the lowest temp setting, the air isn't really that cold.
Is this something that we can fix it pretty easily? or should I just contact our landlord?
Never really had an issue like this before, so just thought to make a thread on AZine.
Thanks!

first thing to check after your filter is to see if the FAN for the condenser is working as it should. if not the owner will have to replace it. They run anywhere from $70 to about $300 depending upon size HP etc... also if the unit is dirty, clean it out

Oliver!!!
Do you have central air or is this a window/wall unit?
If its a central unit, after checking the obvious stuff go to the outside unit and make sure that the fan is running. I just had to replace the capacitor in mine a few weeks ago. Also, check to make sure the condensate drain isn't clogged. If it is, and if yours has a float switch, the backup of water may be turning off the compressor. Also, look at the coils and make sure that they're not clogged with dust or debris.
If this is a window shaker or a wall unit, the filter and the coils are about the only things you can check. If they're clear, call the landlord.
Whichever type unit you have, if you do have clogged up coils go to your local hardware store and get coil cleaner. Its not that expensive and you don't have to worry about reactions / oxidation of the coils that could be caused by using household detergents.
