Well, I said goodbye to an old friend yesterday, but I'm very glad that I did. My buddy was trying to talk me into changing out the gaskets that hold the tank onto the toilet, and this may have solved my leaking problem, but I just didn't trust it, and for the price it wasn't worth it to me to be constantly worrying about leakage. So I said goodbye to the old girl

Went to Lowe's down the street and after some comparison, I settled on the American Standard Champion 4. The one I was replacing was an AS as well, so I went with what I knew. I looked at the Koelers and other brands, but I was impressed with the Champion 4. They even had an add saying that you could flush 16 golf balls, who does that?

When I was wheeling the toilet to the checkout, I had 2 different Lowe's employees comment on what I was buying, both said it was a great choice, and the first guy saying "I won't install anything else in my home" so it was great to have the reassurance that I made a good choice

I also plan to replace the linoleum soon, so I got a rubber/silicone wax ring for easy removal. (I already have one in my powder room for when that room gets flooring) and here's the new throne in all it's glory. No hockey theming, but it does the trick

Fun update I know

Nah, it's just stick em tiles, so I plan to rip them up. I'm planning to do the luxury vinyl tile like I did in the kitchen

Nice toilet...my parents got one of those, and then promptly switched all of the other toilets in the house with them LOL. Dad even swapped all of the lids for soft-close ones (although I personally dislike those lids).

I have nothing but power flush toilets. Haven't needed to use a plunger since installing them over a decade ago. Plugged toilets were a regular occurrence before then.

Got a number of projects knocked out this weekend, I started around 11 AM on Sunday and didn't stop until 3 AM on Monday. These are the bigger projects that I got accomplished. First was the ceiling fan in the dining room which I had torn mostly down during painting back in the spring, here's a before pic from before I burned the last fan blade

I had the new fan sitting in a box for months and finally got around to installing it. First I removed the old one and removed the old wiring, and installed the new mounting bracket. You can see where we painted around the old bracket.

So I broke out my spare can of ceiling paint and we touched it up

I wanted to paint closer but my buddy didn't want to mess up my roller, but it cleaned up the ceiling quite a bit. The holes will be dealt with at a later time, they screwed the bracket right into the plaster.

Got the wiring all done and mounted up the motor, you can still see where we needed to paint closer, we couldn't believe how small the new trim piece was!

I also finally replaced my front porch light, this before picture is after we already removed the bolts from the wall, it was hung properly before

It's an LED lamp, with a twilight sensor, so it comes on at dusk and stays on till dawn, thing is bright as day on the porch.

And the third big project that I got done was replacing the shitty collapsing shelf in my laundry room. This thing was mounted to the mortar with nails, yes nails and those plastic drywall screw spacers When I bought the house I noticed that the bracket on the right was completely loose and not holding, the one on the left was pretty bad as well. (not shown in pic) It was mainly supported by the shitty piece of bent sheet metal in the middle which was also removed. The whole shelf is just a thing piece of plywood with that ugly trim nailed to it.

Back when I lived with my ex, we inherited a water bed frame that I had modified to work with my king size mattress, all I had to do was build a riser for the head board. Well 5 years since I kicked her out and she took the bed frame, I still had the wood riser screwed together holding my beer cases. I had planned to either make a wine rack or a shelf out of them, so it was perfect. My buddy brought over his masonry bits and screws, and we hammer drilled the better looking board to the wall with 6 tapcons. Then I mounted the other board (same length) with heavy duty shelf brackets and lots of wood screws, and voila

We also raised the shelf up a block and left room in case I want to add another one below it. This thing is sturdy as hell, we literally were hanging our full weight off of the board on the wall, definitely a lot better than the collapsing piece of shit that was there before.

The small boards underneath the shelf were the risers in between the boards and were too short to extend the shelf with. I plan to eventually buy some more pine boards and extend the shelf in both directions.

I've never hung a fan by putting the fan up first and then the blades, always do them on the ground and work around them. your way is probably easier. LOL...
some white alex caulk (sp?) would fill those holes and probably not even need paint to make them disappear next to the fan.

That shitter looks like it was built for a 4 year old.. why no elongated one brah? Lowe's AquaSource chair height elongated is $99 all day. Good flush.. although if your short.. shitting takes work. Better grab a stool to put your feet on.. to stew your stool if you will.

I just installed one upstairs. In the half bath I installed a Cadet 3 Powerwash 2-piece elongated.. fucking thing flushes a brick. I have some heavy hitters come over occasionally and they be clogging a ninja's toilet up. I said eff this.. no issue since. Some bad reviews on it, but mostly from dinguses. The thing is a champ, especially if you can shit a buick.

More pics of that light I really like it as well. I hate my outside lights. For one they don't match and two they might be the smallest outdoor lights you can buy. They look lost. That looks like it has some size to it.
