bathroom refresh

We decided to do a small project around the house and the upstairs bathroom was the target.

We repainted the vanity and replaced the pulls. The pulls we chose needed to be repositioned, so the existing holed needed to be filled in and painted over and redrilled.

We used 2-3 coats of primer and 2-3 coats of ultra while paint.

I had a coupon for 30% of vanity tops at lowes and chose the inexpensive granite for $135 after discount. The side splash was $15 with the same discount.

I ordered a kohler nickel faucet from the net for $133.

We have pex plumbing throughout the house and needed to adapt that to the new faucet. I picked up 20" hose w/1/2" @ one end and the other @ 1/4 or 3/8" I installed a shut off valve on each line. The part that slid right on the pex was like a compression fitting. It slide right on and no leaks.

The only problem i need to fix is the leak where the plastic plumbing attached to the drain. No matter how tight or how much/little putty is put on. It is very slow, but not acceptable.

Everything was done for under $400.

Wow, that's a dramatic change considering the relative inexpensiveness. Great job, good luck with the leak problem.

The grommett that helps to seal the sink and drain must have seated, it doesn't leak anymore.

Mrs. dallison was downstairs and said, "you know, since you did such a nice job upstairs, the downstairs one could have this done also."

The she said that it was time for a new shower curtain since it was there when we bought the place. It sounds gross but we never use the downstairs shower and the curtain was pretty new.

I said that we can get a new shower curtain.

She asked why it was so easy to say that and why i didn't agre to do the vanity.

b/c i had to do the work.
