Anyone take the free home improvement workshops offered at Home Depot?

There are a bunch of free workshops offered. If anyone has taken them please share if they are covered in detail and if a single class is enough to finish a project.

I've never been to one, but a lot of them look very interesting. My neighbour went to many of them and must've learned enough because he was able to complete a few projects around his home with the knowledge he gained. I would assume that the instructor/associate is also there to answer individual questions after the class or at another time if you have specific questions that need to be covered.

What type of projects are you looking to DIY?

You'll get much more activity in the H&G forum.

And no I've never taken one. My Dad is a walking encyclopedia of home improvement. He's taught me just about everything I know. Thanks Pop.

I have not taken one either, however, I know people who have and every single one of them loved it.

Instead of asking... why not just show up for one? They're free and do not take up much time. If you don't like it... don't take another one

I went to one about setting tile. It was worth the time.

I am interested in re-doing a bathroom. I noticed tiny cracks in the grout on the tile floor so I ripped them out along with the backer board to find out if any water got through. I'm looking at plywood on the floor and it seems like I have to replace it because some parts are discolored, perhaps due to the water.

This bath is not used very often so we decided to start a project.

I am signed up for a class this weekend. I just wanted some opinions about what to expect.

That's the one I'll be going to this weekend. After your response I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

Ahh, gotcha. No where in your original post did you state that... hence my reply suggesting to just go to one.

Have fun!

I have been to several: how to install tile and carpet, how to replace a sink and toilet, how to paint, etc. I liked them all, because in each lesson, they taught me some things that I did not know.

They're free too, which is the best part, and if you're lucky, you can get some one-on-one attention.

I have been to the children's workshops too, and my son loves building the little wooden models they have. We're building a school bus this Saturday!

Class didn't go so well. I was signed up for the tile class and when I got there they said they're doing pergo flooring instead.

A friend of mine also signed up for two classes in another location. He said the paint class was less than 5 minutes, and the tile was 10.

I guess you can't expect much if it's free.
