Anyone build a wetbar in their home/basement?
Hey all,
I'm a college student with a dream. A dream to build my own bar in my garage. I live in a 1 bedroom studio and have a detached garage. I would essentially want the bar to obviously be free-standing and fairly big. off the top of my head, i would say 4 feet wide. I want the "L" shape and place it in a corner. behind the bar i want a place to but a mini-fridge and just a place to put shot glasses, regular cups, make drinks at.
Anyone have any experience with this? pictures? online tutorials? books? suggestions for materials? what kind of wood? I want a padded bar arm rest that goes around the bar. What material should I use for that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully i can get plans started this winter break and finish it by the end of the school year for summer fun! Thanks in advance!!

Shit.
You are not even old enough to buy liquor.
You need to be proficient in carpentry, plumbing. Essentially a counter and a sink.
Otherwise, it is going to be a long winter project.
If it L-shape, then palcing in the corner would closed off the bar?
Just go to your library, and maybe Barn&Noble for some free reading on the subject. They should have enough material to keep you busy.

Sounds good. thanks...i didn't plan on getting as complicated as a need for a sink or plumbing..more of a storage place and a place for a few people to sit....just wanted to see if there were any online tutorials.

No sink....that is not a wet bar...
That's actually cheap, bunch of 2x4 for frame and 4" beaded boards and a tiled counter. A lot of labor.....which you will have plenty this winter..

They will fit together via tongue and groove--go to the hardware store. The helper will gladly show you. They come in 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 feet length.
Use finished nailer nail them on the face, stacking them up. And use a corner trim to hide the outside corner.
