Any HVAC experts?

Every now and again, my thermostat acts up when I try to run the air conditioner. The unit will click on and run for a couple minutes but then click off, even though the little snowflake still appears (solid, not flashing) on the thermostat’s display which indicates that the a/c is running.

It had been working fine for the past month or so and just starting not working so well yesterday. If I jiggle the thermostat a bit the fan will click on again, only to shut off shortly thereafter, with the snowflake still on the display. So the thermostat thinks the a/c is on, but the fan itself is not running. Sounds like there is a loose connection or it’s just a bad thermostat. Bottom line is the thermostat is not communicating with the a/c unit properly. And it's hot

Of course whenever the a/c guys come to take a look at it, it works fine. Any thoughts? I should note my sister has the same exact model thermostat, and this never happens to her. So maybe the unit is faulty?

If you are actually hearing it click off then the thermostat is probably bad. Take the cover off to make sure the wire connections are good and you may also want to swap out the batteries to make sure. These things are pretty easy to replace.

The wire connections look good but I will try swapping the batteries. So far so good today so I'm not gonna touch it now.

Yep, landlord finally replaced the thermostat, so I'm back in business now.
