AeroGarden

Anyone have an AeroGarden? Any thoughts on it?

I've read so many good reviews lately so I picked up 3 and a wall shelf [great effing deal...]. My husband does most of the cooking and instead of buying fresh herbs from the grocery store...we wanted to just grow them ourselves.

We thought of growing them outdoors, but we would only be able to do that in the Spring/Summer and have to buy them during the fall/winter.

I'm looking forward to growing all sorts of herbs, lettuce, peppers and tomatoes indoors.

My aerogardens just got delivered today so I'll update when I see some results.

We grow and dry the herbs for winter use. Basil, thyme, ital parsley, oregano, etc all dry very well in the microwave or a dehydrator.

So it's been about a couple weeks now.....

This is what the aerogarden looks like against the wall. We chose all white.

It came with 3 sets of seed pods. We chose 2 gourmet herb and 1 cherry tomato set.

Here they are sort of starting out after 3 days....

And here they are as of a couple days ago...

Husband and I left for almost a week [get away from the snow storm] and when we got back - there was so much growth.

Here's a picture of the cherry tomatoes

So far so good....

Unfortunately the deal isn't active anymore.

The site here has the gardens + shelf for $300 [usually a garden, 6 or 7 pod, runs for about $60-100 each and the shelf goes for $100 on amazon]. Currently bing CB is 10% which isn't bad and it's free shipping. So your total would be ~$270.

There was a coupon code for 20% a few weeks ago and 12% bing CB. Shortly after I put my order in, the coupon code was deactivated...

The sprouts are cute lil buggers though...and as usual...still growing strong. Lots of growth...

Do you have to use the pods that come with it?

Hehe. Nope.

If they do come with it, then obviously use them.....

However, you can grow everything with 3rd party sponges, seeds and nutrients from parkseed.com.

You can practically grow everything [within reason]. People have asked to grow apples [uhhh....they grow on TREES] and a lot of stuff that cannot fit, but smaller fruits and veggies are a definite yes.

Oh that's good that you get 2 seed kits. I've read the reviews on the QVC and those are the not the same experiences that I've had. I've also heard from others that their customer service is top notch. They always replace seed pods that don't grow.

Mine are growing well....and rampant...

New pics as of 2/22

We've already been able to harvest dill, chives and basil for cooking! The plants are puny compared to how crazy they are now...
