5-gallon water cooler bottles
It recently came to my attention that the common lexan water bottles (labeled with the #7 recycling symbol) can leach BPA, so I went to a couple of stores that sold these bottles, only to find out that all of them were lexan/polycarbonate #7 bottles.
#2 (HDPE), #4 (LDPE) and #5 (polypropylene) bottles are safe, but I can't find them anywhere. Can anyone help? I found a few bottles online but they don't specify the recycling symbol or materials.
For reference, I need a bottle like this:
I'd also prefer it to have a handle, makes it easier to put onto the water cooler.

The fact that they're toxic isn't really true. When they were tested the bottles and water were heated up to create the leaching effect and even then you'd have to exposed to a much greater quantity then what you would be simply drinking the water that comes out of them.
With that said most companies are still switching over but they're not throwing away the old ones just waiting for them to get used up. Broken, thrown out etc.

After some more thought and research yea I started to become a little skeptic if the bottles would leach enough to even mean anything. The problem is that I didn't know any better and I washed it with steaming hot water (too hot to run your hand under for more than a second) because I had a mold problem with my water cooler as well as the bottles.
So far, I can't distinguish any plastic taste, and I don't want to be overly paranoid, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'll stick with the bottles for now.
