Pretty happy with the way the siding turned out. The yellowish board and batten somewhat matches the shade of yellowish shakes in the gables on the front of the house. While the porch does look like an addon to the house, it doesn't stand out as horribly different from the rest of the house. I wish the porch joist grey fascia more closely matched the Trex deck grey fascia. I may decide to do something about that later, not sure yet. The color difference is less noticeable in sunlight and in person, the camera here seems to accentuate it.
Apparently siding guys don't do gutters, so that will come later. Weird.
Trim work started. He'll have a bit of work ahead of him with the upper window casings. The spray foam caused a bit of bowing in the middle, which he'll try to bring back up with the trim casing. He's going to have a lot of nail holes to fill.
Corner pencil trim, nail hole filling and sanding, beams installed
Beams were interesting, we knew we wanted them, and had no idea that you could buy faux beams. They're a high density foam with a realistic veneer. We ordered these back in September without ever having seen a product in person. Went to a website and pored over images of different styles and effects and then types and colors of wood. Next we made small cardboard boxes to try and gauge the sizes we wanted. It was essentially a cross your fingers and hope they turn out sort of thing.
The main beam is 8" W x 10" H. The side beams are 6" W x 8" H.
When they first pulled the main beam out on the porch, I panicked a little. It looked HUGE! After install, I think they fit the space perfectly. Really happy with how they turned out. I looked for any repeating characteristics that you sometimes find with fake products, and I can't find any repeating patterns.
Outlets, lights, ceiling fan installed, breaker installed and electricity is flowing. The fan control leaves a bit to be desired. While the wall switch is wired to the fan, the wiring only controls the master power on/off. The light and fan buttons are really a wireless remote (unknown tech). It was really hit or miss on whether or not the controls worked. Turns out the 4 gang wall box had a lot of wires directly behind that control, and I think there was too much interference. I pushed some wires back and up and now it seems to be working a lot better.
Also, if the fan thing doesn't resolve itself look into the Lutron Maestro fan controller. It fits into the same decora faceplate and adds in a wired control box that sits in the fan shroud up against the beam to provide fan/light control without any extra wiring.
That looks great! The beams add a lot to the room. Not sure if a different colored ceiling fan would look better. Can barely tell it is there, at least from the last picture, unless that is what you were aiming for. None the less, enjoy your new space!!

Thanks! The outlet is a bit of a clumsy solution to a couple problems that doesn't exist yet, or may never exist. Since early on, I've been toying with the idea of floating some crown molding above the windows and putting in light strips. If I do that, the outlet will be hidden behind the molding and will be the power source. I've also been thinking I may want to install an outside camera in the soffit above the door. I may end up using that outlet for that.
Thanks for the tip on the controller. Depending on how things continue, I may need that.

Thanks, we did want to try and "hide" the fan a little, but we weren't expecting that close of color match. Easy enough change in the future if we tire of it.
That addition came out great. The speaker blends in really nice too.
My wife gave me so much crap that the speaker was the first thing out there.
White everything is being a massive pain in the ass. I needed some music out there while I vacuumed out every stupid shiplap gap, and then cleaned all the black smudges and dirty fingerprints off the ceiling and walls. Still have to wipe down the window casings and all of the trim. Definitely glad we don't have kids!
And for the love of.... Why do window companies put these kind of stickers on their glass? Bunch-o-dicks!
I have to have music everywhere so I get it. I love music even if just background music. To go sit in a great space you have created with nothing to do though will also be very relaxing.
Looks great! I have a three season room (but we can use it most of the year thanks to the sun exposure) and it's completely transformed how we use that space. I wish I did it sooner.
Whoa, that room came out great and the beams look fantastic! I've been toying with the idea of "Smart" tint for our bedroom sliders because my wife hates clear glass apparently, could be cool in there.

Thanks! That Smart Tint is a really neat product, and I agree it would definitely give a cool vibe to the room. My first rough estimate to do that looks to be right about $10,000. Ouch!

Yikes, there are other options that aren't AS expensive and steadily coming down but damn.
Forgot to mention that the non-tempered sashes were finally replaced with tempered glass. As described, they were able to remove the just the sealed argon dual pane glass section with a new unit.
I need to figure out what to do at the bottom of the stairs. Right now, I'm leaning toward a small, maybe two block retaining wall between the porch posts and then doing some sort of 3' x 4' landing with pavers.
I like your solution with a small wall and a pad at the bottom. It will also give you a place to wipe your feet before stepping on the stairs on the way up at all.
I am planning to do something like this at the steps to the garage deck and the back door to the garage since likely coming from the backyard went entering those areas. Hoping with the drainage holes it won't be a haven for mold and mildew. https://www.homedepot.com/p/TrafficM...4x48/306932652

The final product came out amazing. It all flows so well with the house.
I finally migrated to some plywood furniture as well. Love the stuff although in the cooler months, I suggest some seat cushions as it holds the cold pretty well.
