When should I switch from gaining muscle to losing fat?
Hey I checked out most of the stickys - good stuff. I am 6'3" 215lbs, I stopped lifting about a year ago and just started back up 1 week ago. I'm working out 3 times a week and am already seeing some results in my arms chest Besides gaing muscle my second goal is to lose my spare tire. So my question is when/how often I should change my diet/workout routine to gain muscle and then to lose fat? Thanks -Jordan

The longer you spend doing just one thing - bulking or cutting - the better your results will be in the long term. If you bulk like mad for 3 months and then cut, you aren't gonna see nearly the results that you could have with a 6 or 9 month bulk.
So, the short answer is go as long as you can stand. If you start to REALLY feel like a fatass, switch to cutting.

Just a question about bulking up and cutting down.
Does that mean I would cut off the cardio for those 6-9 months, then when in the cutting phase, crank the intensity up?

Monday - Chest and Triceps; jump rope for warm up
Tuesday - Cardio and abs
Wednesday - Back and biceps; jump rope for warm up
Thursday - Cardio and abs
Friday - Shoulders, lowerback, legs, weighted abs
I just can't imagine cutting out my two cardio days :-X. although I've been slacking off on those as of late
