My chiropractor told me it is due to the muscles in the shoulder getting too tight and causing the popping sound. I forget the exact words, but he said it was something that could be corrected with massage or ice on the shoulders. I have since reduced my lifting and don't experience it anymore.

If there is no pain experienced, then there is no problem. It's just the way your body is. But, if you experience pain in that area or from the popping, then there is a problem, and you need to change exercises and/or get treatment for your shoulders.

maybe your form is a little off. You might need to get the bar alittle closer lower down your body.

I've been lifting for about 6 years now and my shoulders have always popped/cracked when I bench. My elbows pop/crack when I do tricept work outs too...

I wouldn't be too concerned, it has never caused any problems for me.
