I was at the school gym this morning just like every other morning this summer. I was doing dumbbell press on the flat bench and these three guys came like 4 feet from me and started chatting, 2 skinny white guys and a black guy with a collar shirt tucked in so I guess he works there. Well after about 8 more minutes I am done with my set and lay the dumbbells down upright and then get off the bench. I lay my foot on the dumbell and gently knock it over then bend over to pick it up, do the same with the other one. On the way to the rack to put them up the black guy comes up to me and touched me, I take off a earphone and he says to me in a mean tone "treat MY weights well, don't drop them like that"...I was like WTF...didn't know what to say to I said "alright". This are big ass rubber dumbbells on a rubber mat.

I know all about gym etiquette and know not to toss weights around.

Now that think about it I should of said "Excuse me? I rather not be touched when carrying heavy wieghts around. And if you want to power trip then start talking to these guys who don't put the weights back just like what i was doing when you decided to touch me"

I have a smart mouth, I would have said, Your weights!??!?!? you mean you personally bought all of these for others to use????what a nice guy!!!!

Meh, school faculty are usually like that. I remember when I was in school if a vending machine ate my money, I'd get all pissed and smack it around (y'know, show the machine who's boss of course ) then some dipshit comes out from the janitor's closet or something and tells me not to hit "his" machines.

And then another time I was trying to walk around a crowd of people in the parking lot, took a shortcut through a small flower bed, didn't touch any of the posies, but another dipshit comes out and tells me not to "step on MY flowers!" afaik the flowers were planted by some student volunteers over the weekend.

Anyways, just brush it off, I'd say.

Don't sweat it, I've dropped weights before after a heavy set of DB bench. . . Manager comes over "Hey control those weights" . . . Me: "Hey pay for my shoulder surgery after they get ripped out setting down 100's slowly. . .can you even pick this up?"

Not fun. I did it after a dare by co-workers. I had no idea what it did. 30 minutes later I was enlightened.

This is so true. I've tried to slowly set the heavier ones down and when I hear weird noises from my shoulders I drop them. In fact, I don't know of anyone who sets them down easy when going heavy. Even the light stuff can hurt.

I probably would've just laughed at the guy. My friend would've went straight to a leg press and just start slapping 45's on it really loud. Do one set and then leave it for the guy to put away.
