Just the nano.

I've been slacking JJ. I'm going to need to run a marathon to catch up I think.

Beetroot, did you calibrate yours or just used it right out of the box? The instructions imply that calibration is not necessary.

I didn't calibrate mine. I know the distance where I run though, and out of the box mine is very accurate.

well my other stuff is biking on weekends, and krav maga/kickboxing class during the week. I like both better than jogging

I'll make an effort to get in on the next challenge though, I could start monday... or whenever this current one ends.

After seeing that I've decided I can easily make something myself.

I tried that is and bugs me. I've got sensitive feet. I spend at least few minutes every morning before I run manipulating my socks to make sure that there aren't any wrinkles inside my shoe.

I did the velcro thing and took it for a test spin:

It worked really well. This distance is accurate without calibration. However, Imma calibrate it this week at a track just to be sure.

I had a good run, until about the two mile point when someone's dog (that wasn't on a leash) started to chase after me.

Sure, I'm down.

This morning's data was all fucked up. I did the same run as yesterday (3.33 miles), but it said I only did like 1 mile or so. Don't know what went wrong.

Did your Nano lock up?

Did you hear the voice give you updates every .5 miles?

The nano didn't lock up. I didn't hear the voice every 0.5 miles, but I didn't hear it on my first run either (which seemed to go fine). Maybe I don't have that setting selected.

I'm going to try to calibrate it and see if that clears up the issue.

Yeah you have to activate the settings for it to talk to you or else it will only talk to you at the very end. Another thing is if you press the center button while running it will tell you all your stats.

Well, this thing is already working in terms of motivation. I plan to go to Stanford tonight to calibrate it on a track. Then I'll run around campus to see if it's really working.

Along with my run this morning, that will be two runs in one day.

I timed myself for the 1st time in a long time for a mile. I'm not in the best running shape but I pulled in a time of 7 mins 32 secs which isn't bad. I know when I was in high school I was in the mid 6s...

I'm still having problems with mine, even though I calibrated it. I think I've figured out that it doesn't like when I run on trails (softer ground). I'm going to try moving it to a new location on my shoe.

wstevens, would it count on a tredmill for proper calibration?

Yeah, you could do it on a treadmill I guess. The only problem would be the few seconds that it takes to ramp up to speed on a treadmill, but I'm not sure how much that would matter.

I calibrated it on a track, but since it's still not working right, maybe I should try something else.

...the only thing is about using a treadmill is... what if... the treadmill's not accurate? I think the most accurate way would be finding a track at the local high school...

I run about 4 miles every weekday morning. It's my primary form of exercise (I also play ice hockey and I'm getting into biking). I'm not really after speed....I usually average around 8.0-8.5 minute miles or so. On good days, I do sub 8 minute miles, but not often.

I finally figured out the porblem with my sensor. I had it velcroed underneath my laces, close to my toes. I kpet it under the laces, but I moved it further up towards where the laces are tied and now it works much, much better.
