Knee problems
Knee problems
I'm a relatively young, healthy guy who woke up four days ago with a clicking noise in my left knee. There is no pain, just a sliding sensation with the noise, and it's worst going down stairs.
I'm pretty sure it's a tear of the meniscus, which isn't a big deal. My concern is whether this damn popping is going to subside. Has anyone had a knee problem or clicking, and did it heal by itself?

If it is a tear it will probably heal, but it could be more of there could be loose bits of the meniscus floating in the knee.
Best bet is if you have insurance go get an MRI done.
After I finished tearing my ACL it hurt for about 5 minutes, quick pain and then subsided, and then didn't bother me again. But the MRI showed it completely torn.

i had a friend who had the same problem, the pain subsided after a few weeks but he had to go in for surgery, as it kept clicking and not only was it annoying but he ran the chance of it tearing completely if he did anything athletic...
i also have another friend who played semi-pro soccer with a torn miniscus... she really fucked up her knee cuz of playing instead of getting it taken care of first, but after surgery now and rehab she's ok again i guess... just depends on how much pain you wanna deal with..

Big difference between the ACL and the meniscus. The meniscus serves to cushion the joint between the tibia and femur, while the ACL actually is one of 4 ligaments that hold the knee bones together.
It's been over a month and my knee still clicks, but there is never any pain, and I've been able to do all kinds of athletic activity.
