I think I Just burst a vein in my head?
Hey guys, I was working out today and I guess I put too much pressure on my head from holding my breath while struggling with that last rep.
Well my head doesn't hurt or anything when I'm at rest or doing normal shit, but if I put some pressure like pretend i'm about to lift something then I can feel some discomfort on the left side of my head, where the temple is.
ALso when I touch it, theres like a vein thats kind of swollen, like I can feel the outline.
So my question is... am I going to die? Seriously though, should I go see a doctor, or should I just take it easy and let it heal or whatever?

i'm alive! haha eric reminded me to go check this thread or else i would've forgot.
I'm feeling fine but I still have that raised vein on my temple. Hopefully that goes away soon or I might get worried again

I was thinking the same, but I didn't think an aneurism was cause by lifting...I thought its more of in internal clot....But having a friend die suddenly of one, yes, go to dr.

Does the pain radiate? Do you feel nauseous or sleepy? Has your vision changed? You definitely could rupture an aneurysm while doing strenuous exercise. Some people have congenital aneurysms in certain vascular structures of their brain (i.e. "berry" aneurysm in the Circle of Willis vascular bed) and one day it just ruptures. My friend died from a ruptured aneurysm when he was in law school at USD, just like that. Get your head checked out and you may need a CT scan with contrast.

It goes without saying, don't hold your breath while working out. Not only does it cause problems like you describe but it hurts your strength too. It was always hard for me to not hold my breath so I took it a step farther and I inhale while doing a rep.
