How much cardio is too much?

Bugeye - I think you need to switch up your routine like some of these posters have said. Our bodies adapt to stress over time and if you are doing the same things every week the body will just feel like it is normal - which is why you need to keep extending your workouts to feel "the burn".
This is the whole theory behind the P90x system which has given me great results as well as my wife. If you want to try something new - give this a go.

Well, I've cut back significantly on the cardio. I'm doing about 45 minutes per workout session (still 6 days per week, though).
I do a 15 minute cardio warmup when I first get to the gym, work out whatever muscle group I'm doing, then do a very hard 30 minute burn. If I'm just doing cardio that day, I do straight 45 minutes of high resistance/high crossramp on the elliptical. I burn ~500 calories for the 45 minute sessions.
Pleased, also, to say my abs are finally starting to look good. I tried to take a picture in the mirror, but I had to turn the flash off so it came out really grainy. Another 3 or 4 months at this pace, and I should be just about where I want to be.

Nice, go with what works, and don't forget to switch it up often enough. Keep your body guessing so it doesn't have a chance to adapt to the routine you are doing. If it has a chance to adapt it will start to do the same routine more efficiently thus burning less calories.

well since i'm sure this thread will be checked up on by all
in the health and fitness forum..i'd like to take this time to say hello...hello...
i'm so sick of the 2g tl section and all the fucking idiots asking stupid quetions that i decided to branch out...i've been lurking here for a few days and have read ALOT of threads..(to try and keep me from becoming the stupid question asker guy..) but more importantly because i'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired...perhaps i will start a thread soon outlining my goals and with everyones input and my own self motivation to make a lifestyle change, those goals will be meet.

I can tell you this.. I would bike about 25 miles in the morning and at night after I ate dinner I would run 2 miles. I did this for nearly 3 weeks intill my body couldn't anymore. I lost weight, not the amount that I wanted so I took a break for 3 days and went back to it for another 3 days. I did this on off cycle for a month and lost more weight that way then I did working out 7 days a week.
