Best work out (lifting) gloves?
I did a search and all you guys were bash the OP for wanting to get gloves
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ht=work+gloves
But anyways, I'm on my 5th pair of Nike Dry Fit gloves
and once again they ripped..
It seems like I go through gloves every 6-7 months..
So this time I'm thinking about staying away from Nike, and looking for another brand.
Any suggestions??

I don't care if I'm called a sissy, but I need gloves.
If you read M & F (I've been since 2003), more than several of the professional bodybuilders are pictured with gloves on,
so I'd like to see you call them a sissy to their face

either way, harbringer's been a personal favorite of mine (or whatever that pretty universal brand is)

OP- are you getting the proper sized gloves?
I used Ivanko gloves for free weights and weight machines, and still have a pair, to avoid callouses. I also used Lubriderm moisturizer (unscented) to minimize any developing callouses.

I don't wear'em... I'm sure since I've been in the gym scene (since the mid 80's), I've purchased a pair here and there a one point... but I, simply, like feeling the weights/iron... I'm proud of my calluses

gloves = sissy soft smooth buttery hands.
no gloves = manly tough rugged hands.
if its grip you are worried about, use chalk. if your commercial gym doesn't allow you to use chalk because its "messy", change gyms.
do what suits you. from my experience tho, manly hands come in handy in lots of occasions.
manly hands >>> girly hands

Wow, I cant believe people get judged on if they use gloves or not. Who gives a fuck! If that's the case, why wear shoes? Lets just walk around barefoot so we can have "manly feet". Some people need to just worry about themselves and not the ones around them.

"manly hands" gives the impression that you are a hardworker, not just a desk jocky. that's how people are. ain't my fault people think that way. do i approve of it? no. but that's how people are. especially old timers. ever shook hands with old timers aka baby boomers? ever have to shake hands with the g/f or future wife's father? there are lots of social contexts where having "manly hands" is to your benefit in terms of impressions. if you want to use lubriderm and wear satin gloves, hey, knock yourself out. i'd be a little creeped out if a dude's hands were as soft and silky as a girls' tho TBH...
and yes, in the context of working out, when doing something like deadlifts or squats, many people prefer to workout without shoes. if they have to, they will wear chuck taylors or powerlifting shoes for stability. if you do deadlifts/squats with running shoes, you need to re-learn how to workout... JMHO
nice knee-jerk reaction there dude.

It sounds like you're not married, either.
Look, honey, in most social circles, it's all in the firm handshake, and not in the lovely callouses one might have, although you may like that feeling for . My wife prefers my cute little uncalloused hands and fingers.

I am glad that my hands are soft and smooth.
Girls love it
But for you, I guess it's all about impressing the guys with your manly hands??
That makes you sound kinda :theghey:
j/k
But seriously, to me you sound like a big tough dude, so I guess having manly hands would only fit you. For me, I'm only 5'6", and in no way want to portrayed as a tough guy. I rock the baby face and girls appreciate my smooth skin

@ havoks last post. Not even worth commenting on. Sounds like you're at the gym critiquing the people more then you're working out. Like said, worry about yourself....do what you want and stop judging the people around you. Maybe it's a Hawaii thing.

Harbinger. Mine has little tears but that's from like 2 years of usage so I would expect some wear and tear. I used to like the feeling of using my bare hands but when I got used to the gloves, I couldn't lift without it. I felt like I could lift more with the gloves than without. As weird as it may sound, it's true for my case.

well, i guess az's empirical evidence suggests there are a lot more guys who like soft moisturized hands than rough hands. if that's what floats yer' boat, that's fine. i guess the metrosexual craze ain't dead. i have calloused hands. BUT, i do take care of it by using pumice stone, salt water baths and other methods do keep the callouses down to a minimum. why? so they don't rip when going heavy. ripped callouses are counterproductive to strength gains since it sets your training back. my hands aren't sandpaper, but, they ain't smooth like a baby's butt either...
i've never used gloves when working out - not when doing deadlifts, not when doing heavy barbell shrugs. if i had to, i used alternating grip or used wrist wraps and where allowed, chalk. you are as weak as your weakest link. for a lot of guys, its their hands and grip strength. gloves compound that weakness since the leather or synthetic material aids in gripping the bar. if you have a medical condition like hydrohidrosis that make gripping the bar difficult, that's totally understandable since its dangerous. otherwise, you are just skirting around your weakness instead of attacking it IMHO.
i knew the rambling section was immature but dang, what's up with all the personal attacks?

I go sans gloves.
But for years I did use Harbingers with the wrist wraps. When you first start out, having the extra wrist support is nice when benching/curling.
But I don't want my muscles to think they would always have that support...and I like having the callouses.
