6MT

I found it odd that the AT gets slightly better gas mileage. Is that a first?

You can't prove it ... The trial of that indecision is no longer accessible

6 MT, but if I had a long commute I would have gotten the automatic.

My left foot gets bored driving automatics

Auto, although after many years of driving manuals, I still find myself reaching for clutch at times.

I've never bought a car with automatic transmission. The only time I do drive with AT is when I rent a car when I'm on holiday. My left foot gets a little twitchy for a while.

AT's often confound me. They seem to waffle back and forth (what's the term?) between gears at a convenient around-the-town speed, like 40 mph or so. It's like you should not go 40 mph, but instead should go 38 or 42 instead. No problem with a MT.

Some AT's have a mind of their own. They seem to force the driver to brake a lot, especially going downhill on a highway, rarely a problem with a MT.

Gotta get the 6MT. I previously had a 2000 prelude and always regretted getting the automatic (that sport shift just isn't the same). Why pay for all that power and then lose some of it on an AT?

I have posted this before, but I have to say it again - I never thought I'd EVER consider an Automatic (especially with availability of a super-fly close-ratio 6-speed manual) but after driving the 5-speed auto with SportShift, I'm a convert. I live in the Bay Area, where traffic *SUCKS* and there were so many benefits of the automatic (including the fact that it actually has BETTER gas mileage than the manual!!) that I decided to go with the Auto.

The Auto's shifts are super smooth, the shifts have extremely low latency (delay between gearshifts), in fact its more than 40% less than any previous Honda SportShift!!, and the SportShift actually works the way I'd expect it to work (and again, it's smooth and quick) - so you can't go wrong with the Auto! Will I get the exact control I get with the manual? No. But, there are enough benefits of the Automatic that I chose it.

Hope that helps!

michael.

6MT Perhaps when I get a little older and start my family, I'll jump to an auto. Also, I think if the TSX came with a 6 cylinder and had some really good torque (not to say it's terrible now), then I'd opt for an AT.

5 AT

Why? Convenience and laziness of the daily commute.

Have you seen Chicagoland area traffic? Think Office Space. Additionally I'm not going to be the greatest stick shifter ever, so I might as well let the car do it for me. I just press the pedal all the way to the floor and it revs nice and easy.
