An interesting factoid I found

In the US from 1995 thru 1998 model years:

79,555 2.5/3.2 TL's were sold.

Didn't know it was that small, of course our cars have their own platform, so costs were a bit high compared to the 99+ TL's which share most of their stuff with the Accords.

Currently Acura is selling 60,000 TL's per YEAR.

Just something I found on Honda's website.

i believe he's saying TOTAL number of TL's sold from 95 to 98 is only about 80k... when acura is now selling 60k PER YEAR... so in 3yrs there will be about 180,000 TL's outhere....

Imagine Fargo, ND. Weird thing is, someone drives a black 3.2 TL just like mine but different color and totally stock, in my apt. complex. I think there are all of 5 in our town, of our generation anyways. I've actually never seen so many acura's as I have when I go to Minneapolis. Its crazy.

I see some pretty regularly. There's also definitely a pattern to them. 2.5's are almost always green. Most are 2.5s. 3.2's are usually black with the gold package or white. Most are stock. I've seen one that had big spinners. That was crazy.

I live in Houston so there's no shortage of rare cars. A guy in a Countach tried to pick up my girlfriend a few weeks back. That was a sucky feeling. Some people have no shame.

LOL, some ppl do have no shame. he was probably an old hippy looking guy, those seem to be the only ones that can afford the mad crazy cars. Hopefully she laughed at him

I wonder how many are left, with all the wrecks, people have had it has to be less than half.

As far as the guy hitting on your girl, you cant sweat it if its out of earshot and he dont know its ur girl, unless your girl starts flirting back.

But if that guy sees you right there alone with her, I would tell him to either f#ck off or you will fuck up his car. nobody with a car like that is going to get out and try to fight you if they think their precious little cunt-tash is going to get a smudge on it.

It was at this Starbucks/Jamba Juice amalgamation at Westheimer and Post Oak Blvd. Houston peeps will know this place as a breeding ground of automotive one-up-manship.

We were sitting on the steel furniture they put outside. This yellow Countach pulls up to the curb, windows down, smooth Mediterranean guy sitting behind the wheel. I said hey look at that. A Lamborghini. She turned around to see.

The guy gave her a head nod and revved a bit. She said, that's neat and turned back around to talk about her day. The guy started revving more. Then he must have gotten pissed at the lack of attention and burned off (yes in the parking lot).

Oh by the way, as if to spite me for my earlier comments about stock TLs, I saw a fixed up 1st gen today. It was black with some rims and the kind of spoiler that's on the Hiro kit. This was on Highway 6 near I-10 at around 1:00. I figure whoever owns that car is probably on this board... So say hi?

I dunno what makes him more proud bout his cunt-tash, the fact that his costs more then yours, or the fact that pretty much anything but changing the spark plugs costs more than yours.

Huntsville, Tx PD seized a ferrari back in 93' under federal seizure law and started using it partly as a pr thing and as a chase car. Then the veteran cop who drove it went barely off the road to do a u-turn and bottomed out the car. After the $6,800 repair for exhaust and the three $1,200 tune-ups from using it as chase car, they started using it for pr only.

In Chicago, there the 1st Gen TL's are far and few. But the 2nd and 3rd generation TL's are ALL OVER THE PLACE. I still enjoy getting the second looks from people that don't know what I'm driving. In fact, at least a couple times a month I get the, "Hey, what kind of car is that?"

Well, they must've had some good marketing in North Carolina between 95-98 because I see quite a few TLs. Maybe it's just because I like to think I've got something unique, but in my opinion I see too many.

Unique indeed... and a lot of people don't know what kind of car it is until they see the back of the car for the signs... My TL has been confused with a lexus hundereds of times... don't know why...

If you look, the front and back of our cars resemble Lexus' somewhat...but like everyone is saying, I LOVE having a unique car. I dont have a tricked out eclipse or civic or crappy integra (I'd love a GSR or type R dont get me wrong) like EVERYONE else in the world.

Yea i see a few in the bay area but RARELY do I see a fixed up one. I remember seeing this ugly ass two toned TL with a big ass Greedy sticker on the whole side of the car...ugly ass rims and a airplane wing. Me and my friend were just laughing at him as I passed him up.

I live on the Plaza in Kansas City and I see at least one every day (Acura in general is very popular here). Despite this, when friends and strangers ask me what year my car is they are shocked to find out that it is a '96. I have had my car for just over three years now and still love to drive it!

The first generation TL's to me, are special. With the aforementioned sales stats there to prove it. Part of the attractiveness of this car is how infrequently it is seen. Minimal additions are; some aftermarket rims, some window tinting, and the partial debadging of the rear.
