Front air bags did not deploy

Front air bags did not deploy
My 1998 Acura 3.5 RL SE was hit in the left front causing the frame to bend and was determined totaled. The car was in mint condition with only 61K miles on it. I am wondering why the air bags did not deploy with that kind of damage.
