RDX Door Lock Acknowledgement

Is there a way to change the door lock acknowledgement. I have an 07 RDX with the Tech Package. I can find how to turn the very soft "chime" on and off when I lock the car with my remote, but I'd like a louder "chime". Every other car I've had with a remote had a louder acknowledgement that I'd locked the doors.

I would like a louder "beep" also. Apparently there is no way to do that, according to my dealer at least.

+1 ... lots of times i have to stand there and "listen" for the chime. Wish it was several tones louder. although, i'm used to a "honk" in my previous car. The chime tone is nice, just wish it was louder.

a honk would be better...that soft beep honestly if your behind the truck exactly 180 degrees behind it you can't hear it, its only audible when your at the side or front.....

I'm pretty sure you can wire it to honk your car but not too annoying enough to figure that out.

Gosh, there is nothing I hate more than a car that uses the horn to acknowledge keyless entry commands. That seems like one of the cheapest things out there. Personally, I like the RDX chime and feel that the volume is just fine. Then again, I can hear the locks click shut when I push the door lock button, so maybe you all just sufer from extreme hearing loss?

When you folks say 'chime', do you mean the 'beep'? To me those are very different sounds and my RDX 'beeps'.

Asking because I thought there was only one sound available (the 'beep') ?

I agree but I am old enough to remember when the beep was cool.

Yes, it's a beep, not a chime.

This is a truly fascinating debate guys on whether the door lock sound is a beep or a chime, haha! I'm on the edge of my seat in anticipation.

Thanks.

Yes, you can program the RDX to unlock all doors when you put the car in Park. Hold down the Info button on the steering wheel for 3 seconds, then scroll through the options.

You can also program the car to unlock all doors from the key remote on one press. Handy IMHO.

Some other nice features in there too. Check them out.

I think the "beep" is fine too, but at times I do wish it was a little more audible. My last car ('06 RAV4) beeped with every lock/unlock button press (once for unlock, twice for lock) and I got used to that pretty quick. Far cry from the '01 RAV that didn't do anything but flash the driving lights. The horn blasts, even the tiny ones, are louder and more annoying.

For 07 base models (non-MID) there is a special sequence of actions you can take to enable such things. You'll have to follow the steps outlined in the manual.

My '04 TSX had the horn - it was so loud that I almost never used it. I find myself using the beep in the RDX almost all the time.
