if you know your voltage then i suggest you start testing
if you dont then start saving to take it to the shop

sounds like your alternator...
set your voltmeter to DC scale..the voltage should read around 13-14 volts..if it's less than 12-13, then it's your alternator that's failing....or you can simply disconnect the negative terminal of the battery while the car is running and if the car dies, then you most likely have a bad alternator..

thanks so much guys, i think your right, i was driving to work and my battery led and my oil led came on and then my car kept dying when i let off the gas, my check engine light just came on so, it looks like im going to autozone to figure out what the code says and very likely replacing my alternator instead of going to work today

Most likely the alternator, a VSS wouldn't cause the speedo to completely quit working, you have 4 of em

i dont get it...why would your car die out if its a bad VSS? your battery light wouldnt come on either. I know when my alternator went out...right before my car died all the needle started to swing all the way and drop flat...car was still driving for about .5 mile and then totally shut off.

i'm thinking u might be getting that code due to the electrical malfunction.

thats what my mechanic said jimmy, that it shouldnt die and the battery light wuldnt have came on?, it does keep dying though, i went to davidmcdavid and got a new VSS, the guy at acura said that it could make the engine die, but im not sure if he knows what he is talking about? ill replace the sensor and see if it fixes it

well looks like my VSS may have died too apparently. My speedometer, total miles and trip milage counter are dead.

100 bucks new though... Time to goto a junker and see if that thing is available..

is it different between a 3.0 and a 2.x? or are they the same all around for 97-99 CLs?
