intake noise

I just installed an intake on my car and the pipe is really short like i showed you guys in another thread. I turned on my car and it makes a tuba kind of noise. Its non stop like somebodies blowing into a horn or something. And when i take the filter off of the intake and I put my hand over the pipe where the intake is suppose to be it stops. What could be the problem??

if you have another filter try putting that on. make sure that all your tubes are connected properly. there should be 2 hoses.

ill take a picture of it and show you guys. I couldnt put all the hoses on there. I put a Breather filter over the PCV valve or w/e its called and I dont need that hose to go inside the intake. And the Oxygen sensor doesnt have a place to be inserted in the intake. Ill take a picture of it now.

my intake

here is a picture of my intake i installed today. A buddy of mine checked it out and said the noise from it is because too much air is getting through the intake because the pipe is too short. But the noise isnt really noticeable. But for now im going to have this intake on there temporarly until I get a new one that actually is good.

Heres the link to the picture.

Threads merged, please stop starting new threads for the same issue, you have started at least 3 intake threads already.

mine doesnt make too much noise at idle, but even after changing to an actual K&N cone, it still whistles up in the 2.5-2.8k range. my intake is about 4" long. ok it's a 4" exhaust pipe with a filter attached....there I said it.

i thought it looked pretty clean in that picture but maybe not. it is an old picture, right when i repainted everything and did the intake. i would love to take a new cleaner picture but my car has been at the shop for the last 7 days and counting
i have a million things to do with the car it seems like and never enough time to do it

^^me thinks ethanol was joking. or at least I dont think it's dirty

Stupid question, what does the resonator box have to do with this? I thought removing that was merely to increase airflow, didnt think it would change the sound of an SRI. I've removed mine, but I thought any noise at idle was from the injectors. My old toyota suffered from this problem horribly, sounded like I had a bunch of hissing snakes in my engine.
