For those with a TLX with remote start

Does it have an option for Winter or Summer start? I would like to start it in winter and have the heated seats turned on max and the heat blasting to warm up the car.

Is there any type of setting that allows what the TLX does when its remote started?

I would expect it to use whatever settings you have when you turn your car off set to.

I don't have one but did research as I plan to get it as an accessory. Acura site explains the following:

The climate control is automatically set to 72 degrees, pre-conditioning the TLX interior to a comfortable temperature. In cold weather, seat heaters activate while the defrost function works to clear the windshield.

Awesome. but what makes the vehicle know it's winter time to turn on the heated seats and defroster?

I'd imagine the outside ambient temperature.

The climate control in the vehicle is set to 72F and the interior would be heated or cooled to bring the interior temperature to 72F regardless of where it started.

Exactly...And if sensors inside the car can determine when the interior reaches 72°F, it's not a huge stretch that the sensors also can determine when the interior is at 25° or 30° or 40°F and flip on the seat heaters and defroster when the remote start controller brings the car to life.

This is one of my favorite features of the Advance trim... along with the ventilated seats. And with the 1/2 mile range on the remote it will certainly be cool in the car when I open the car.

Hopefully once in the car the driver only has to step on the brake, hit the start/stop, shift and go. I hope it doesn't actually re-start like other Honda's do.

That's exactly how you do it. From the installation instructions:
1. Press LOCK, then press and hold ENGINE. The amber LED blinks, and the green LED stays solid for one second when the engine starts. You can repeat this once at any time within 10 minutes of the initial remote start for a 10-minute extension.

2. While remote engine start is on:
• The climate control system can warm or cool the interior, depending on the ambient temperature.
• The security system remains on.
• Exterior lights and accessories remain off.

3. To start driving after you enter the vehicle, depress the brake pedal and press ENGINE/START/STOP

Weird. For some reason, I thought the range was only around 300-or-so feet. Now I'm reading it's 1/4-mile on the Acura website. That would be awesome. In the summer, by the time I get to my car, it would be down to 115 in there!

I see on the Acura site under TLX features that the range is up to a quarter mile but when I build a 2.4 it says the Remote Start accessory has a range of 328 feet. Anyone know which is correct? Maybe 328 is supposed to be 1328 (I hope!)... that's about a quarter mile.

I know with the MDX Advance trim ('14+ model only), it works exactly like you want (and many domestic cars for a while, now).

Lock
Remote Start
get to car
Unlock
Go

Though just about any Honda/Acura before that (and, afaik, the accessory versions, too) shut off the engine when you unlock the car.

I think on the RDX and MDX the remote start range is around 300-400 feet. And I knew I had read it was 300-something somewhere for the TLX - thanks for confirming. Seems like it's more than likely around 300-400 feet.

No, you can't start or stop as best I can tell. You can lock/unlock as well as get performance info / fuel levels / etc with the "Connect" package

http://www.acura.com/AcuraLink/packa...tion&model=TLX

Definitely not cheap....

Now that I have my TLX and have setup my AcuraLink, I can verify that you can lock and unlock the doors via the AcuraLink Connect app as long as you have "Connect" or "Premium" packages.

You cannot, however, trigger the remote start.

At least it's an option for those that want it. The connect package looks pretty good.

So after playing with the remote start. it does not adjust heating, cooling, or seats based on outside temperature. it just goes on the last settings the car was on before it was turned off

My TLX did not restart. I just hit the brake and pressed the start button and shifted. That just lit up the dash and everything and i shifted out. Smooth transition. no restarts at all

The TLX brochure states that range is up to 800 METRES (over 2500 feet). That's half a mile. Abut depends on the number of obstructions. All Hondas for some time have automatic climate control setting depending on outside temp. On Hondas it will set the climate control to 21 celsius, and turn on windshield defrost and rear defrost as long as the car's HVAC has been left in "Auto". It will only switch on heated seats if they have been left on beforehand. I guess why the heated seats are now part of the touch screen maze.

The Honda II remote start claims a range of 400 to 1500 feet depending on stuff in the way. Evidently the TLX remote has much more oomph.

I am not clear about uwing the TLX remote without killing the engine on entry but the Acura salesperson sqid there was a way to get in a move off without it stopping.

I think that is/was a given. What I mentioned above was the AC or heat would be turned on and used to bring the interior temperature to whatever was set. Use of AC or heat would be determined by the difference between interior car temp and exterior ambient temperature. This is no different than if you were actually in the car and driving. The car's climate control will do what's necessary to bring interior temp to whatever is set.

I can confirm that the range is pretty nice, I can start my car from my desk on the 8th floor in the office when the car is parked on the far end of the parking lot.

I also noticed that when outside temperature is around 40-50F the windows get foggy with the remote start and it takes another 2-3 minutes for them to clean up once I get into the car.
