Excelerate Performance has spent an extensive period of time working with Acurazine members and Acura vehicles on their XLR8 brake packages. We’ve tested, installed and used on our very own vehicles the brake components in these very packages.

These Acurazine brake packages are designed to improve braking performance and durability at a reasonable price. The packages in a nutshell include STOPTECH performance rotors, which are offered in premium blank, slotted, drilled, or drilled and slotted, and STOPTECH Performance pads. All of the rotors have a black e-coating on the hubs and vanes and an advanced alloy composition. The STOPTECH slotted rotors for the front of some Acuras are also a Curved Vane Power Alloy Disc, which helps reduce heat in the brake system and utilizes more durable alloys. The STOPTECH Performance pads are a para-aramid compound, which has great initial bite and long-term performance and lower dust and noise than most aftermarket brake pads.

We have a multitude of different packages available for the Acurazine community. Each package comes with front and rear STOPTECH rotors and STOPTECH Street Performance Pads. We also now offer packages with our XLR8 Stainless Steel Brake Lines included.

The Stoptech Street Performance Brake Pads that come with these packages are a para-aramid compound, which has great initial bite and long-term performance and lower dust and noise than most aftermarket brake pads. Their Maximum Operating Temperature (MOT) is 1300°F which is higher than any other street pad currently on the market. Not only do they perform well in hot temperatures they also perform well in cold temperatures. We have plenty of customers who run these pads in sub-zero climates and have no problems.




Our XLR8 Stainless Steel Brake Lines are made up of teflon hose that has an extruded teflon core with an outer stainless steel braided wire covering. The ends are then permanently crimped on each end. Each line is then finished with a black PVC cover, which gives added protection from flying debris or further abrasion protection from the line rubbing on suspension components. All lines are DOT certified and manufactured for us by an industry expert who has 25 years of experience.

Ever wonder how much R&D goes into your braking components? We're going to give you a quick look at some of the machinery and processes Centric/STOPTECH uses to create their high quality braking components!

To start things off, Centric uses NVH brake dynamometers to monitor noise and vibration data of axle type brake fixtures. Low frequency noise testing is made possible by the double-wall enclosure which provides a high transmission loss, and the walk-in style chamber can accommodate full vehicle corner sections and axle fixtures as well as conventional corner groups. In layman's terms, Centric will bring in the entire axle assembly of a vehicle and closely monitor noise and vibrations when using their braking components.

Another way Centric ensures quality pad manufacturing is by using a inertia dynamometers. These systems simulate vehicle inertia by forcing the addition and subtraction of load. The dynamometers ensure the the braking components are capable of handling extreme changes in momentum and will even take into consideration angular velocity.

The dual ended brake assembly test fixture allows testing of two corner groups simultaneously. Universal 2-piece fixtures can be made to accommodate various caliper designs and manufacturers, as well as rotor sizes. Split ducts provide cooling air to each corner separately.





All of this testing is performed on every product Stoptech/Centric makes, including our XLR8 brake packages!

 

Centric utilizes a machine called a Vehicle-Specific Upright which measures NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) characteristics of different pads. In this photo below, the Upright is testing the Corvette Z06 D1247 pad. The machine is able to measure NVH as if the pad were actually on a vehicle under load.
