GTA: Window Tint

Can anyone recommend a good place to get my windows tinted in the GTA? Preferably somewhere closer to the west end.

Also, how dark can you get away with and what have your experiences been?

Thanks.

I had mine done at Krown in Burlington, right near the 403. Quality work. I can't remember my percentage...it was like the second or third darkest. Never had a problem. Have your windows down already if you get pulled over.

My dad went the % before the limo..i think 25%...and they told him its illegal to do the driver and side and passenger side that dark but they still did it...you can go as dark as you want for any window besides windsheild and the driver's and passenger... all my cars and my dads cars and my brothers cars get tinted at Total auto glass on Kipling and Northqueen. They are really good, life time warranty.I still havent gotten my car tinted yet but they will be doing it for me.

Good luck!

If I remember correctly, your front windows have to be 35% or lighter (higher). Your back can be as dark as you want. I have 20% all around and i've never gotten a ticket

I think I'm going to go for something like that.

35% is the max legal on the fronts. I wanted darker, my tinter told me I was stupid and refused to do it because it would make the car look shitty and plasticky. He said that my car was too nice for some "high school" limo tint. So I took the professionals word for it and went with 35% all around. He was right, it looks CLEAN and classy. This was up in Newmarket though, so I doubt you would be interested in making that trip. Flawless work btw.

Front two windows for mine are 20%, back two are 5% and rear is 20%. Never had problems with cops either. I didn't like 35% as it seems like the car isn't tinted at all, but it all depends on what your looking for.

I think I'm going to go with 20% all around. My car has a factory tint which is really light - probably 35%. I don't want super dark limo tint and I don't want different %'s on the front and back windows so I think 20% is the way to go.

I had 20% all around in my TL-S ... looked great and was functional during the day.

However, if you are in an unlit road and trying to back up at night ... I had to open my door to make sure I didn't run over anything / back up into somebody when I tried to go in reverse.

My G37 ... 35% all around. I don't like how some cars have the 2-tone tint ... doesn't look right at all, IMHO.

PS I got my G as well as my wife's TSX tint done at Audio Heaven ... that's in Richmond Hill area. I realize that's not too helpful to the OP ...

Factory tint is nowhere close to 35%, like 90%-ish IIRC.

I had 35% in one of my previous cars and while it wasn't dark enough for me, it is for many people.
I'm not sure what's on the TL since it was on when I got it, darker than 35%, but not as dark as 20%. I'd go with 20% if I were to get another car tinted, nothing darker than that though.

back in 1999, i bought a new Acura 1.6 EL and it came with 35% all around from the factory. it wasn't dark enough for me which is why i went 20% all around this time.

The current 20% i have right now is also from Audio Heaven

Are you sure it's from the factory and it wasn't installed by the dealer?

I had 35% in my old SHO and I can't see the factory installing tint themselves, especially something so dark.

I might have to make a trip up to Audio Heaven. How much did you guys pay and will I have any problems removing the factory tint?

Another choice is Ziebart. The one in Meadowvale charges about $225 for Sungard tint with lifetime warranty. They actually do a pretty good job.

One of my friends had Formula 1 Pinnacle done on his car at a shop in Maple and that was about $330 or so.

If the "factory tint" is really the tint the glass manufacturer impregnated into the glass, then you're fine and that won't need to be removed (nor can it). Otherwise if it's a film tint needs removing it will depends on the shop.

It's definitely a film. It's scratched in one spot where the normal glass underneath is exposed.
