Brake caliper rebuild kit
Brake caliper rebuild kit
I searched the forum about "brake caliper rebuild kit", but I was not able to locate the information I needed.
Story: Last month, I parked my TL in the garage after driving home from school. When I was heading inside, I notice heat radiating from the front passenger side wheel. It was really hot when compared to the other 3 wheels. After a few hours of waiting, I took the wheel off and removed the caliper. THE FIRST THING I NOTICE, the dust boot (dust cover?) was torn apart.
FYI: I'm the second owner to the vehicle and I have not changed the brake pads yet.
Anyways, I had a hard time removing the brake pads. After 5mins, I managed to remove them, and they seem fine. I used a brake cleaner to clean everything. Putting the pads back on was way better than taking it off, but it had some resistant. Once everything was put back (pads, caliper, wheel) I did a test. On uphill and downhill, I put the vehicle on neutral and it rolled forward and backward with ease. Now when I go anywhere I would always check whether the problem is solved by hovering my hand over the wheel. Sometimes (hardly) the wheel would be hot (not really hot as before). But most of the time it will be slightly warmer than the other 3 wheels.
As a result, the purpose of this thread was asking where can I purchase a "brake caliper rebuild kit" because I believe the piston is sticking. Should I go aftermarket or OEM?

To be on the safe side I would change the entire caliper if I were you. Also the brake line. If the caliper was getting hot because it was stuck, chances are that rubber brake line also needs to go.
PS. I don't see how a brake caliper rebuild kit can help you fix a seized piston.

But, I mind as well replace the brake line too.
