Hey Tidus888

North Toronto seems to have a bad rep on this board - I bought my TL from them in '03 and they have done all maintenance.

Sales - no problem, got a great deal on my Aspec (lease)

Maint - I always prebook my appointment in the evening (they are open till midnight!) and I am usually out in under an hour providing nothing major had to be fixed.

I will be trading in my car in the next 6 mos and plan on purchasing at NT again.

That's my Good luck!

I've been there a couple of times for service and both times I was not impressed. The staff at the dealership is nice, but the service advisors seem to think everything is normal. The service advisor was rude the whole time and really didn't seem interested in solving my problems.

I went in with a list of concerns and when I went to pick up the vehicle absolutely nothing had been fixed. They had an excuse for every item.

I wasn't very impressed with the service. I might go back for something simple like an oil change (its the closest Acura dealer to me) but for things I actually want fixed, I'll go elsewhere!

i think i agree with you.... they really just wanna get your car out of the service bay... instead of fixing problems.

I Bought Two Acuras at North Toronto

While I have found that North Toronto has the best prices for new cars, I was never very impressed with their service. Unfortunately, I have not found it much better elsewhere. A notable exception is Acura Sherway--GREAT SERVICE! Ask a lot of questions, call around and check prices before having anyone service your car.

My Un-Pleasant Experience with Acura of North Toronto

After having purchased 2 new Acuras at Acura of North Toronto, including my current car, a 2004 TL 6 MT, I had a very unpleasant experince with them on Monday June 23, 2008. I brought my car in for service including an oil change and a four wheel allignment. Once the car was there they advised me about the two recallls outstanding on my car (wiper motor and power steering hose). Notwithstanding the fact that I had serviced my car there, Acura Canada was never provided with my updated address, so I never received my recall notices.

When I went to pick up the car, the covers for the wipers arms were not reinstalled. I went back into the service department and they had a tech find the covers and re-install them.

Once I pulled out of the dealership, I noticed that my steering wheel was now very much off centre or the wheel allignment was incorrectly performed. I had to return to the dealership AGAIN to bring this to the service advisor's attention. The advisor had Victor, the evening service foreman test drive the car. After one block, Victor apologized and offered to correctly perform the allingment while I waited. When I got the car back from Victor, he test drove it with me to demonstrate that the work I had asked Acura of North Toronto to do at 8:15 in the morning, was finally done 12 hours later.

I asked the service advisor to have the Service Manager call me, but he has not yet done so. I called to day to leave him a message.

Hats off to Victor, but I am not a happy Acura of North Toronto customer.

When I was buying my TL, I had it taken to Acura North York for an inspection, which ended up costing me ~ $125. It's not the money that bothers me, it's the fact that I believe they did not even bother looking at the car. I asked them specifically if there were any outstanding recalls that needed to be done on the car (this was end of May) and my advisor (Winston) told me no. However, when I took it to a different dealership (Sherway) they told me that both the power steering and wiper motor recalls still had to be done. So, if Acura North York couldn't even bother putting my VIN in the computer to check for recalls, you think they would even bother hosting it up and taking a look? Also other problems like the drivers side wiper blade being broken, and transmission fluid being extremely low, were never mentioned to me. I will never take my car to Acura North York again.

I have to agree with you there, although, when I went in to get a faulty pressure sensor in my transmission changed, one of the techs forgot to put back the gasket. So whenever I would hit 4th gear I'd start leaking transmission fluid! No dealership is perfect, but I still take my car to get serviced at Sherway because they seem to be the less shitty among the rest, lol.

Response from Acura of North Toronto

I received a timely call back from the Service Manager at Acura of North Toronto. He apologized, told me that he spoke with the tech and offered to cover my next service. I assume that this refers to a free oil change. Lets see if things improve the next time I am there. I can not hold this gentleman responsible for everything that goes on in his shop. It is his response that is significant.

I've purchased both my tsx and tl from them and never once had problems with sales or service. Always very professional and all explanations were upfront for any service to be performed. They are one of the best, but it all depends on the technician you get or advisor/salesperson. Just my 2 cents

Here's a story from Edmunds dot Com about salesman. It's long but very interesting to know. This will save you time the next time you want to purchase a new vehicle. Tell them to cut the craps and get down to the final numbers.

http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/co...-salesman.html

btw, just so you guys know, for any warranty works, it's best to approach the service advisors during the first half of the month and not at the end of the month. Each and every dealer has a warranty pool (X amount of $) reserved for spending by the headquarter. If the dealer is close to going over the provided budget, they will deny your warranty request at all costs (i.e. everything is ok and it's normal for the vehicle to behave like that).

Slower or newer dealers like to provide warranty work even if not needed (i.e. offerring recall works and TSB etc when you're just there for an oil change). Most customers will just say yes to the offers because they're free. This is because their main source of incomes (sales & services) are low and they'll try to compensate through warranty. Busier dealers don't like warranty because there're too many paper work involved. On top of that, the labour is calculated dead on by the headquarter, there's no room for slacking.

The 3G Garage is the best bet for the questions you seem to have.

Talk about a thread revival!

I purchased my 04 TL 6spd from NT. Similar experience to others - sales dept was great but service was appalling.

The car was a certified pre-owned yet they didn't perform the recalls before selling it. When the power steering started to whine I took it to them and they told me it was normal and nothing was wrong. I didn't agree so did more research and I discovered there was a recall. Once I convinced them that it needed to be fixed, they did the recall and the car has been fine ever since. When I picked up the car from the recall they had driven over a screw in the service bay and punctured one of my tires. They were not willing to accept it was their fault.

I also find their service people rude.

Now that my warranty is expired I won't be taking the car back to them.

Damn that sucks. So it seems like buying a new Acura and expecting Warranty is pretty much useless in Toronto. Why can't dealers be like Apple and fix issues with no questions asked .

So did you ever implement any fixes for your 3rd gear issue you were asking about?

Naa man, I went to Acura East and told them about it. I went with a tech for the road test and that guy shifts each gear so hard. Obviously, when you shift like that it never pops. I'm thinking of trying again during an oil change or something. Any idea how much it'll cost for the fluild flush?

For the transmission its not a flush but rather a drain & refill which is fine.
GM syncromesh has previously been recommended but I don't think he has faith.

He even goes to say he's going to try to get them to replicate the 3rd gear issue again during his next oil change.

Let us know if the dealer "fixes" this issue for you will ya Jeeva.
It couldnt hurt to let them know you read about a potential fix by switching to a GM fluid either as it couldnt hurt to get their opinion on it.

Yea, I'll keep this thread updated on my findings. Only when I shove the gear in hard, I know it's safe but that is annoying as I don't have to shift so hard for the other gears and I'd forget, causing it to pop out and me revving so high. The tech said that my clutch was slipping too and it could be that what's causing the pop, but I feel like these are excuses.

My VIN isn't listed in the affected models either so it's sorta hard for them to acknowledge the problem. We'll see how it goes.

On a side note, any recommendations on a shop that is familiar with this issue and would do the GM fluid swap?

Looks like this person was having issues with Acura of North Toronto where the dealership intentionally tried to deliver a showroom vehicle when the buyers clearly said they didn't want a showroom vehicle.

http://acuraofnorthtoronto.freecontentfeed.com/

The complaints look quite official and well structured.

I bought an Acura certified accident free Acura from Acura of North Toronto, but in the first planned maintenance in another dealership, I was told that the car had an accident! Unfortunately, I had fully trusted the dealership and did not get the car inspected by a professional.
The car was repaired incompletely with poor quality. I took the car back to Acura of North Toronto, they did not even say they were sorry! They kept my car for more than 2 weeks, so they could inspect it in an offsite body shop. When I picked up the car, the car had moved only 1km! They did not fix the major problem of the car, and the sale manager, David Yip, kept telling me that their Manager, Phil Martiniello, should make a decision regarding this problem and compensation for my loss in the resale value of the car. I did not hear from the guy after a month. I have started a legal action against the dealership.
My recommendation is to stay away from this dealership. Do a research online and you will find plenty of cases against this dealership. If you go there, take a professional with yourself. Don't trust if they say the car is accident free or Acura Certified.

updating acura of north toronto

Ran into a problem with my insurer after a "panic stop" in my 2007 TL seemed to affect the master cylinder -- rare but it does happen, google it -- so my adjuster allowed me a visit to Acura of North Toronto specifically to address the issue. I think I lucked out. New Service Manager George, only there a few weeks, bent over backwards to solve the problem (new master, diagnosed by elimination, by checking every other part first, which is the only way unless you have x-ray vision). He made it clear that he was aware there had been some customer issues in the past and it was his mission to turn that around. Made a believer out of me! Very impressed, shuttle service, loaners, the whole 9 yards.
