i got a few questions and i need help.

on new years eve, i asked a girl out and now were goin out...but the thing is, we only went out to see if things would work out, because she lives in sydney and i live in new jersey. things are going okay i guess.

but heres the thing, i got prom this year (yes, im a young gun)and shes obviously not gunna take a plane over here to go with me. so should i find someone else to go with? should i not go? because she would get mad if i go with someone else.

So you are dating a girl from down under that you have seen how many times? Once, twice maybe.

First question is.. what's the point. Is she moving over here? Are you going over there for a long duration?

Find someone in NJ, invite her to prom and have fun. 17/18 is not a good time to start a Long long long distance relationship

 

actually...ive known her for a couple of years. we both go hong kong almost every summer and we always hang out. ill get to see her this summer again.

we agreed that if things wont work out then we'll just let it be.

 

got dam silver spoon kids... you have a couple options... miss out on the prom to make her happy, go to the prom without her and make her upset ... sounds like a loose loose situation. Personally, Id vote for either going to the prom stag or telling her that you would like to have a "friend" go with you to the prom.

Q: if you both can fly to Hong Kong and all that, why can't she come to your prom?

 

we both go to hk because we both have family there, and summer time is the only time we have off from school

 

Do you have an "understanding" that you are in an exclusive relationship? If you do, then taking someone else is out of the question.

As an alternative is there someone in your class in a similar position (bf in college, whatever) who wants a date without romance? Could have a great evening with a friend......

well, prom is a long way off.. but when the time comes, ask her that if it's not possible for her to come up, would she mind if you took just a girl from a group of friends, purely platonic.. it's not an unreasonable request, as most people don't like to go to dances alone, and even if you did go alone, it's probably understoond that you'd be dancing with other girl-friends anyway.

don't make a fuss about it if she's not comfortable though. and don't go behind her back if she says she's not comfortable with it... it's not hard to tell if someone's lying in a situation like this, especially if she asks to see pics of you in your tux..

 

i dont see the problem in you going to prom with someone as a friend

Ditch the Sydney chick. You're way too young to wait around for some chick that's a 20-hour plane ride away. You need to go out and sow your wild oats.

 

hmmm i guess your right, but we do get to see each other during summer time, and i saw her this xmas too(we both went back this year).

i guess i got time to think and talk to her while i find a date too...hopefully she'll understand. if not, then shes probably not worth it anyway, or maybe we can
"hold off" till this summer.

she has a great personality and great sense of humor

 

dude...go out and have a great time...don't waste your time on some might be or what if's! you have to have a special quality in you to make a long distance relationship work and at your age...not very many people have it. Enjoy your prom and take some you really like.
