I'm getting married next month, and I met her on Match as well. I would highly recommend any of those kind of sites. For me, it was a way to weed out 90% of the girls I had no interest in. For me I eliminated women with kids, fatties, uneducated, neocons etc.
The only reason she was on Match was her best friend met her husband there and suggested that she give it a try. Of course net dating has pitfalls too, but if you're busy and don't like the bar scene it's a great way to go.
My wife and I were introduced through family friends. We met at her house ... both families (my parents, her parents) were there. Very weird. But it ended up working. Makes me feel quite
by the family hook up.

I was invited to a movie w/a mutual friend & her boyfriend. I was told I was only invited b/c Jennifer had passed out from dehydration earlier in the day & couldn't drive. Turns out our mutual friend was ready to break up w/her boyfriend and wanted to date me...she just wanted to test me out on one of her friends. She never got the chance... Dated 3 3/4 yrs & married 1 1/2 now.
btw... unbeknownst to me, we were going to see "Crossroads"

That beach in Hawaii -- I have a friend who lives there and I rented his parent's beach house for the week. On Oahu -- in Kailua. I had to work like a dog to rake the sand and clean the place up (it rained a bit the day before and there was a lot of debris in the sand). Had guys come over to set up a canopy in case it rained and set up the arbor. Spend a wad load of $$$ (fly people out there, rent the house, food, photographer, car rentals) but this is something you do once in a lifetime (hopefully), right?

Any other people going to chime in with their stories???
She's the cousin of my best friend and sister to a good friend. I was friends with the men in her family for a very long time, and we started dating in April of 2000. Married July 2004.
And no, they didn't mind. They were all pushing for us to get together, and then pushing me to pop the question. I couldn't be happier.
ugh I need to find a new pic.

Her ex-boyfriend was harrassing me at a bar one night and trying to pick a fight and she kept apologizing and backing him off. Eventually he got so drunk he started swinging so I decked him and got in a brawl with his buddies, which landed us all in jail. Anyway, she was nice enough to bail me out and I asked her to have dinner with me the next night, and that was that.
Back in 99, just coming home having spent a full day in NYC, I was exhausted. It was a little past 9pm and I planned on getting ready to wash up and get ready for bed. This is when my younger brother called
"Hey bro, come to P.D. Bowling Alley, we're all here."
I replied "who's all there? Bowling alley? We haven't bowled in 2 years."
"Well, there's a pool hall across the street if we get bored. Tommy, Jason, Lou, Anthony etc., are all here. Just you're the only person missing so come."
Well, I had no choice but to jump into a quick shower and bolted there. What turned out to be just another night of hanging out with my younger brother and friends at a boring bowling alley ending up meeting my wife for the first time there. While bowing ridiculously low numbers and getting filled up on Beers, I noticed a group of girls a laughing a few lanes down from us. I noticed a few blondes and brunettes but one particular brunette caught my eyes. A dark brown hair tied in a ponytail girl had a white Tshirt that said "University of Penn" stood up to grab a bowling ball and got ready to bowl. I remember this vivid image because the bowling alley had neon lights and those letter on her Tshit stood out glowing.
I took a deep breath and got my balls up and walked over to talk to her. The inital approach was quite awkward but by the end of the night, all of us hung out and I got her number.
Later I learned that she wasn't an American and is actually the first generation Swedish-Italian (she had no accent.) She was getting ready for medical school and plan on staying here locally. In addition, I learned that her father did not like her dating me not because I was asian, but because I wasn't Italian. We went through some obsticles in life; grad school, parents, and life in general. Fast forward 8 years, we're still together and now she's my boss.
Moral of the story? You never know where you're gonna meet that significant other. I'd never imagine at a freaking bowling alley

the technical first time i met my husband, he was sitting at a table at a sports bar with some mutual friends when i stopped by to say hi. Of course he never took his eyes off the tv, and looked like he hadnt bathed/shaved/slept in 5 days, and just generally gave off a really creepy aura.
the first time i actually met him, he was naked in his bed sleeping
of course i didnt know that until later because he had covers on and I assumed he was wearing boxers or something......

Silvia's post reminded me....the first time I ever met my wife, I had nothing but a towel on & was on my way down the hall to take a shower in my dorm. My wife was dating my RA at the time & they were on their way out & said "Hi" as I walked by.
We met the day we were both going for our driving test
.She failed, sitting there crying(18yrs old) I came very shy tried to talk to her.We started talking and now 10yrs later we're married(6yrs).
