I don't think it's a majority, but it's a significant number. A lot of the psychological blocks are attributed to pain. It doesn't really bother me probably because I'm very distracted when it happens, but I do notice it. I'm 9 months in now.

^ sorry to hear that. Guess everyone is different. I did know people who had some issues - involved a frozen bag of peas and more extensive recovery. First I've heard of pain lingering that long. Hope it clears out soon.

Getting the snip snip on friday. Never had kids never want them and the wifey feels the same.
She has been on the pill for over 15 years and it's time for her to be off of it for health reasons. It is easier for me to get this done than for her to keep taking the pill and possibly having a stroke or other long term side effects.
It does not bother me to get it done. i would rather have a healthy wife.

A few considerations about reversal; it is expensive (it is considered 'microsurgery'), almost certainly won't be covered by any insurance, chances of success start fairly low as someone pointed out already, like, 60-65% if done within the first 5-10yrs and dropping dramatically after that and, holy crap, it is uncomfortable!
You are awake with a local but at the point that the doc is in there digging around for the ends of the tubes, you'll swear somebody is trying to remove your tonsils in a most circuitous fashion. Not amusing.

Sure, go ahead and do it.
In approx 18 months, the boys will start to shrivel and turn a very dark color. After that, it will become most uncomfortable to 'engage thrust'. This discomfort will continue for another year and half or so. And then beyond that, Willy will pretty much cease to function as originally designed.

I looked into freezing my sperm and getting snipped... Honestly I dont want to get a random girl pregnant, I mostly date random girls, dont ever really have girlfriends. Costs about $500 bucks a year. Honestly that aint shit. I probably spend that on condoms, maybe more. The killer would be getting the procedure of getting a future girl pregnant with the frozen sperm... But I really doubt that would be more expensive then having a kid with the WRONG girl...
On a positive side note - There is actually a beter option coming really soon. Shot for men. Lasts up to 10 years. 100% effective in human trials in India. Actually I believe one man had it for close to 20 years. VASELGEL - could be here as soon as 2017. Ill literally push people the fuck outta my way.
After 10 years they either flush it and re-up, or flush out and youre back to normal.
They're also working on a testosterone shot that makes your balls produce less testosterone, therefore producing no/less sperm - NO - JUST FUCK NO

I got one in 2001.
It went much worse than expected.
I mean... wasn't I supposed to be frozen or something? Damn it hurt.
I would probably do it again, but just retain the services of a different medical team.

A shot to lower your testosterone??? What kind of stupid shit is that. Enjoy getting all flabby and moody. Even marketing wise it makes 0 sense as we've been trained to have as much T as possible even with the pressure of steroids/HGH.

And I agree with you tho - theres no fucking way there wont be side effects. Plus, it just seems ... WRONG

I'd love to hear the conversation you have with your future wife about this. "I used to like to fuck a lot of random women so I got snipped. But you are the one for me baby. Let's thaw this out"

I've always felt like if someone wants to sleep around early and often well fine, go do that. If someone wants to find the the right girl and get married then fine, go do that. But clinging to the idea you can do both is a bit of a fools errand IMO, because investing in one strategy is at odds with achieving the other.
I just don't see, "yeah, I'm going to sleep with 100 women now and then meet my dream girl who won't mind one bit that's what I did". Unless the "dream girl" is someone who did the exact same thing.....

This is something my wife and I have talked about, and we're not quite ready yet. Although I'm ready to say "we're done, " she's not.
I'm afraid of needles. Hell, I went to a different dentist to have my wisdom teeth pulled because he would sedate me (well, he was my wife's dentist, so it wasn't completely random). If I can be sedated for the vasectomy, then I'm game. I don't want to be aware of what they're doing, no matter how insignificant. I'd probably freak out otherwise.
I have a history of being afraid of procedures all the way up until the moment it's happening...and when it happens I'm always like WTF why was I so afraid?!
I know two people who had it done and they both said it wasn't a big deal and have no regrets.

I operate on a strict policy that when it comes to medical procedures, I don't want to see anything, feel anything or hear anything. And I'm no fan of needles. That said, the Valium I had before mine was very effective. I know that's the type of thing that may work differently depending on the person, but in spite of the fact I knew where they were going to jab me with a needle, I didn't care. In fact I was laughing and joking around through most of it. Maybe when the time comes your doc can prescribe you one and see how effective it is.
When the time comes, I'll remember to ask for drugs.

i am pro....if you reach optimal family size.
financially, it makes great sense. and it is also cheaper for the man rather than the alternative of wife being on B.C. every month for years at like $40-80/mo, not too mention, hormone swings that come with it, and there are no guarantees with B.C.
HOWEVER, if anything happens down the road (you never know), say you get remarried in 10+ years and want another kid...then you have a problem. i suppose freezing pre-op would be the solution...

They gave me a Xanax to take an hour before. Depending on your experience in recreational activities, the effects will vary. I had a lot of fun in high school (), and the needle felt like an ant bite without the lingering pain. Not bad at all.
Honestly, you will probably be thinking more about laying down in stirrups with a Dr. and nurse all up in your business than the actual procedure.
