Paxil question...

My ex g/f takes it and was wondering if anyone else here takes it (or knows of someone taking it)? Have you noticed if it helps? Have you noticed any side effects? ...

I remember one time she went off it and she got real wierd. She apologized to me and told me tried not taking it. Went back on it and seemed 'normal' again. We broke up 3 weeks ago and I was just wondering if part of the reason it the Paxil or depression. After 3 weeks of not being together, I can see and accept that we would not have worked out in the long run as partner.

Just have to find a new lady to hump and all will be fine!!!

You definitely cannot go 'off' Paxil. You need to taper off very slowly. It takes 6-8 weeks to work properly, takes just as long to come off.

Could it be a reason she was acting strange...hell yes.

It's in the mail.

Going on and off any type of these medicines (including Paxil) has strange effects. When I first went on Paxil, I felt "spacey" for the first 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks went by, I felt fine. I have gone off and on Paxil for about 10 years now, it's best to stay on rather then to go on or off.

For me, yes. I took it for one reason only. I had bad insomnia due to thoughts racing through my mind when in bed. I would think about all the stuff I needed to do, things for work, house stuff, etc. My family (especially my father) has OCD and I have it also (but for me, it really only affected my sleeping). Since taking Paxil, I sleep fine. I have gone off it before and the OCD / Insomnia came back quickly.

hmmm, I wonder if Paxil would help with my anxiety attacks? they only happen with I think about a situation too much. let's say I am walking through the mall and I come to an atrium. If I THINK about getting nervous in the atrium, I DO get nervous. If I am distracted from the atrium I do not notice it, and then no nervousness. Does this sound Paxil-able? Sadly, it also happens when I drive long distances, hence I stay home more than I would like to.

If it's something that only happens once in a while, I'd say read some material by Lucinda Bassett on panic attacks and behavior modification. I wouldn't go on Paxil for a few panic episodes and it sounds like you know how it affects you...which is half the battle.

Try reading some on the subject and practice doing the things that bother you...sounds like it's not too bad, so that is the best time to tackle the problem(before it really becomes a 'problem').

I was on Elavil (the one they give cancer patients so they don't mind dying so much) for a few years, i don't have any experience w/ paxil, but in my personal opinion....

DO NOT TAKE THESE MEDICATIONS UNLESS YOU HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING ELSE FIRST!!!

these anti-depressents are nothing to be taken without serious consideration...people have a lot of misconceptions about these drugs...they think you take this one little pill and everythings better...Everyone that knew me tell me i was not the same person when i was on this medication and that's totally true... It doesn't make you "happy"..

Now, i am not like tom cruise here, i believe that medication can help people, but i think today, people are overmedicating like crazy...

yes...it defintely could be due to paxil...these medications totally change you...

^^^As with anything, talk to a doctor. Medicine is not an exact science and there is good and bad with it. It took my doctor several weeks to get my perscription and dosage right before it worked for me. I also went to therapy before Paxil, which I though was the biggest joke.
