For me it really depends on the situation and the person. In my last relationship I felt that connection and knew right away. I only say it when I'm absolutely sure

I'm always scared to say it first.

Like Jerry told George in Seinfeld:

George: Ok, ok, fine! It's changed, it's not really the point. Anyway, I'm
thinking of making a big move.

Jerry: What?

George: I might tell her that I love her. I came this close last night, then I
just chickened out.

Jerry: Well, that's a big move, Georgie boy. Are you confident in the 'I love
you' return?

George: Fifty-fifty.

Jerry: Cause if you don't get that return, that's a pretty big matzoh ball
hanging out there.

I can understand that. I was afraid to say it first in my last relationship but ended up just saying fuck it and doing it anyway. It took him a while to return it, but when he actually did it was the best first "I love you" ever I think its worth making the first move if its something that you're sure about.

I can say love the day I meet a chic.

"I love that thing you do with your tongue"
"I love the way you make ya booty clap"
etc.........

I don't have a problem saying love..........I say it all the time. I don't put a lot of emphasis on the word, although I do mean it when I say it. For instance, I love you Nori!

exactly, can't put a time on when it happens! It's got to be a natural growth in the relationship!

Said "I love you" to get laid when I was drunk.

Otherwise, it depends. I've never really said it and meant it. I went out with a girl for 3-4 years and was never in love. My last girlfriend broke up with me after 6 months and I loved her, but never said it.

My ex b/f told me he loved me one month after we met. It scared me because I liked him but did not love him at that point, therefore, I did not respond. He was very disappointed but I didn't want to lie about my feelings. It took me some time to say it back to him... 2.5 years later, we're not together any more...

I don't like to say "I love you", I prefer to show that I care about someone. But I like when a guy says it first - it gives me a chance to either respond or not.

It depends, but I don't think I've ever been the first one to say it in a relationship. It's good to say it, but better to show it.

Depends on the person. Only really said it to 2 chicks I dated and it was within the first 3 months. When you know, you know.

took me to tell my girl about 6 months or more... about a year and a half later... 2 years into the relationship... i promised her i'd marry her... and i don't break promisses... this year... 3 years and a little one (my baby girl...) later... i asked her to marry me... DENIED!!!... but we are together now... again... after she left me... and we are working things out at the moment...

when i will ask her to marry me... hell if i know... when i feel the time is right i guess...

but to answer the question... 6 to 12 months... a year you can actually crack the word, because by then you know the person and know if you actually can live with them over another year...

Depends, I can usually say it (though I never HAVE) within about 4-5 months if we are really compatible. But for some reason the women I date would either run away when I say it, as they have when 4-5 months in I drop hints, like telling them I want exclusivity.

Or they tell me within two weeks that they love me, or worse, that I love them...

At least you didn't do it in public like that dude at the basketball game. What a kick in the junk.

Not that she is mean... its just that when I asked it was the wrong time... We were separated... (2-3 weeks ago)... i had the ring since Valentines day... but she disrespected me and i held off from proposing on "Heart" day... then I left to Yuma, AZ and she left me... I got up... didn't prepare anything... just got in my truck... and went to her and proposed... She denied me at the time because she was "unsure" of our relationship... she needed "Time" and "Space" etc... all that girl stuff... Either way... after I proposed... she denied me... then a week later she calls to tell me that she's thought about our relationship and that she want's to work things out... etc... so now we are together but i don't know when i'll propose again... maybe tomorrow at the Bay Area Acura meet... Maybe in 10 years... i don't really know...

Either way... i think its fair to say the "L" word after about a year of knowing and living with the person...

About my avatar... those guys are O.G.'s...

I only use it in context such as:
"I love being with you"
"I love when you blow me"
"I love......"

But never "I love you." Unless it's my GF, and due ot jealousy, girls are intimidated by my car.

If you have to use it to get sex, then a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. MOre power to you, but if your balls get cut off by a stalker, sucks!

Are you serious? Do you drive a McLaren or something? I suppose using a car to get laid is alright for now, but I don't think that any wifey material in the long run can be acquired this way. Also forgive me if this was a sarcastic post and I'm taking it too seriously

goodluck homie, but after her being unsure once, i dont think proposing in public (ie. Baseball game) is a good idea. dont let her mess up ur acura meet! Ur not in a hurry or anything i hope. some people are indecisive, and this is a HUGE decision. Let her have her time to think...

I say it after I actually feel it for a short while. Usually it's about 6 or 8 months, depending on the person. It's happened twice so far in my life that I actually felt what love was.

By the way, for a second I thougth this post was about the T.V. show,
"The L Word", you know, about the lesbians and stuff.

I'm not sure how long I knew Dark...he actually told me that I loved him....I think we were together for about 7 or 8 months...I would have to ask. It all depends on the situation like Noriko said...it's all about compatibility!!

There's no set timeline of when to say it.... It should be said whenever you actually feel it, and that tends to vary depending on what each person considers 'love'.
