And the GF is against allowing them to celebrate those holidays? Won't you continue to celebrate them with your family? It would be foolish of her to think that you wouldn't include your children in those holidays with the rest of your family.

I think what it boils down to is how comfertable you feel participating in your significant other's religion. I know for myself, I do not consider myself to be any religion, but i don't care what the religion of my SO is as long as they don't try to convert me or shove it down my throat.

Made my decision
I've decided to stay with her and allow any future kids to be raised as Jewish. I think I love her too damn much to leave her. Thanks for your suggestions and opinions. They helped me out a great deal.

There's just somethign wrong about a girl from Detroit suburbia moving to London and acting like a Jewish princess.
Trivial pursuit: One of the country's highest concentration of Russian Jews is in the eastern Cleveland suburbs. The Russians there are almost all Jews and vice versum.

There are more couples out there that came to this sort of religious compromise than you might think. It's better than being some unhappy fundamentalist.
Good for you.

It all comes down to who's willing to budge...

I always made it a point to marry someone who shared my beliefs and customs. I dated many women in the past, most were jewish, very very few were not. The ones that weren't knew very well that I was only in it for the fun. Once I decided to get serious, I went celibate for a good 2 yrs before I met my wife, dated, engaged and married her. We both share the same beliefs and customs.
And what was mentioned before, the child is whatever the mother is. I don't think that's only for the jewish religion though.
Another thing, my particular customs don't accept converts either, so that's out of the picture entirely.

Driving with your seatbelt on is a law, but it is broken. Who will really know ?
I'm sure most will see my point here, but I'm not going to argue.

Next time find yourself a Catholic girl and fight about the real issues, like why she doesn't leave the toilet seat up!!!!
