Divorcing my husband
Hi all...it's been months since I've been here and I just wanted to say a few things about why I've been gone and since the title of the post is "divorcing my husband" I'm sure you can figure out that it's because I have been though a very big change.
I have posted here about trying to save a failing marriage several times before and in other peoples posts who were having similar problems. Well, we finally decided to throw in the proverbial towel and call it quits. It was a long time coming.
I wish I had some great advice to give or some important anecdote, but I don't. It sucks and I wish it on no one, but it was a very necessary step in the right direction.
So, gentleman (and all two ladies..lol J/K!) I am now a single woman in a forum full of men so I'm sure you will find me picking your brains for some advice on navigating the wonders of dating since it's been over a decade and I'm seriously out of practice!! I did recently start dating and, let me tell you, being a car fanatic has done wonders for my stock Guys do love a girl who can drive stick, if ya know what I mean..wink, wink.
Oh yeah, and you KNOW I kept the TSX...

On a more serious note though, I'm sorry to hear about your divorce. I hope its relatively amicable and that you both emerge unscathed from it. Maybe you can meet someone from an AZ meet..

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
Yikes. I've felt like utter crap after breakups.... I can't imagine a divorce So sorry, but you seem to have as good an attitude as you can by recognizing it as a necessity. You don't mention kids, so that's good.
So are you gonna get half his stuff? Are you rich now? Pics?

Life is too short to waist it being unhappy and/or miserable. I'm not up to speed on the details of past threads, but I wish you the best. Are you sure you want to get advice from a bunch of hornballs on azine about dating after divorce??

To answer some questions, yes he and I are still friendly and mostly I suspect, because we don't have any kids to fight over. So it's a clean slate and I'm looking forward to some new adventures. Thanks to all for the supportive posts.

I feel you, Sara - got my papers in the mail this Saturday. Not a good day. We separated 6 months ago, but there's a mandatory wait period in VA before you can finalize the divorce. Even though it was something I sought out, and a decision that I still feel is the right one, it was still a very difficult milestone. Feel free to PM me if you need to talk.
Oh, and I hadn't dated in 13 years (yikes!)...it's been an adventure. But, honestly, it hasn't been as difficult to get back out there as I thought it would be.

Hey Sara... met you both at the Chicago meet (if you recall) back in 2003. Sorry to hear about the divorce, but someone put it well above, it wasn't meant to be and sounds like you gave it a go for saving it. Being married can be great, but its gotta work for both folks and there isn't any sense in staying unhappy. I must admit, I'd be way lost if I had to back into the single life again. Dating now isn't like it was some 12 yrs ago when I was in college, so I wish you all the happiness and luck b/c I don't have one piece of relevant advice.

I'm 31. I'm really supposed to be alone the rest of my life? No partner, no sex, no potential to have a family, no companionship?
And who said anything about immediate? I've read some of Sara's posts on here - they've been working on things for a very long time.
And if you're referring to me when you say immediate - my marriage effectively ended September 12, 2006 when that horse handed me the traumatic brain injury. It just took a while for the dust to settle and for us to realize (and then admit to) the consequences.
Life goes on - why would you speak of throwing in the towel that way? The lucky ones will have the fortitude to make the best of what's in front of them at any given moment.
