Ok this thread is really starting to bring me down with all this slow singing and flower bringing. Sara wants to go out and have a good time. What the hell is wrong with that? The last thing that she should do is crawl in a hole and wither away because her relationship died. Not her, the relationship. Did anyone actually read her post, or did you all stop at the title?

Sara knows we love her...what she wants to know is will we MAKE love to her! Sara, yes, I will tear your ass up! You are probably still sexy, and you still have some good years in you! Now if you can WORK a stick like you shift a stick, then girl dayyuuummm!

Let all subsequent posts reflect that...

I'm 31. I'm really supposed to be alone the rest of my life? No partner, no sex, no potential to have a family, no companionship?

And who said anything about immediate? I've read some of Sara's posts on here - they've been working on things for a very long time.

And if you're referring to me when you say immediate - my marriage effectively ended September 12, 2006 when that horse handed me the traumatic brain injury. It just took a while for the dust to settle and for us to realize (and then admit to) the consequences.

Life goes on - why would you speak of throwing in the towel that way? The lucky ones will have the fortitude to make the best of what's in front of them at any given moment.
I am not refering to you in my post and did not know that you were recently divorced. I was speaking mainly from my point of view towards marriage as well as some of my married friends. I love my wife and kids to death but if things went south I don't think I would have the strength, will or patience to start a new relationship that would lead to marriage.

It depends on the person. I know a lot of people that got divorced and re-married and are a lot happier than they were in their previous marriage.

Never say never unless you were once faced with that situation.

Forgive me. I gave you credit for reading the thread.

I think we can't really know what we'll do in a given situation until we're actually in it. Particularly the more difficult, complicated ones. May you never have to find out.

Well sure. You can't be expected to take her word for her claims of no dents and no rust under the hood. That's understandable.

All relationships take something from us when they are over. Well, the good ones take quite a bit. If you didn't love the person it wouldn't, but you do so it does. I think the mitigating factor is that we think too much about where we've just been, as opposed to just getting on with our lives. We are aware that life goes on, but depress ourselves with the loss and struggle, instead of thinking in terms of a new beginning.

I divorced when my daughter was 5, and vowed to be semelparous, as she was such a blessing to me. I snipped, snipped and made sure of that later on. But before I did, I am sure that if I found someone else I would've given my all to it once again and had another one if need be. It's commonplace as a man to swear off future marriages or serious relationships that might lead to one. But life is so fulfilling when we share it with another of equal importance. So the best thing to always do is to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back on that horse and ride! After all, the ability to adapt is inherent in us all...

Things generally work out for the best. There are reasons relationships work and there are reasons they don't and noone necessarily needs to be blamed one way or another. So, close that door and find the one that's opening. Post away, we're here for you.

And that's how you kiss ass with no hope of scoring. Everyboy else is just having fun while you are "policing" the action. My guess is you are either gay or an old fart that doesn't get any so you want to spoil the fun of the local faithful?

Oh jesus, what have we done here?

How the hell did this thread get soo off track?

I am sure at this point in life, you both have a wonderful set of friends and also some fun hobbies. Use them to meet new people through, and I am sure you will find someone to make you happy. Or at least someone to make you breakfast.
