I'd put my relationship first at this point. Actually, I put it first years ago when I chose not to go to the Naval Academy

There was a time for one person where I would have. But ever since that time, years ago, No.

Since then, my career has come first, I'm not at the comfortable stage where I can sacrifice my career anymore.

Family > Career > Girls

Unless its a simple relocate (for you alone) which families can handle.

Uprooting the whole clan though, it would have to be a VERY lucrative offer.

If I was with someone who I knew I was going to marry, and spend the rest of my life with, then no, I would have no problem sacrificing my career.

I'm not sure family and relationship should be grouped. Any guy with kids will likely put them first. However, if it's just a gf, fiancee or wife without kids involved, you have to put yourself first. If they don't adapt to the changes in your life then it's time you move on to someone who can.

Or like Tony Montana said " In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women."

I have not had a relationship yet where I would consider hampering my career in order to benefit my relationship.

Maybe if I was married, and even then it would only be because I would probably fear the financial repercussions of a divorce more than losing the woman.

My career has come first, cost me a relationship where I thought I was going to marry the girl. Sometimes I regret it, most of the time I don't...glad that my career has come first
