Brains or beauty?

so we had this convo at dinner last night... if you had to choose between brains or beauty, which would you go for and why???

I chose brains because I wouldn't be able to not have intellectual conversations with my S.O.

and I also thought back to that line, "you can always buy implants and face lifts, but you can't fix stupid."

discuss, i would be interested to see what our consensus is on Azine... i would expect most people to choose brains, but i do have a few friends that go for looks and dumb as a doornail...

I went with the cop-out answer-- how fugly are we talking about here otherwise??

Jessica Alba isn't a knock-out beauty, but she's not fugly either.

i say you can take it to whatever extreme you want to...

but if i have to put it into perspective for you... how about fugly enough that if someone were to ask who that was with you? you would be a bit reluctant, to say g/f right away...

Yea...seriously....we're not talking about the mutated daughter of an ogre, right?

And with beauty, it seems the running assumption is that the girl is dumber than a rusty, bent, doornail.

Natalie Portman is a Harvard grad.. so I gotta go brains. Definitely personality before brains though.

I voted me....

Brains....Looks change, and your will too....

My wife is very smart and successful. She was also overweight (as was I), she recently lost a lot of weight (had bypass surgery) and looks terrific (not that she didn't before)...So now its win / win for Whiskers!!

Of course... but if I had to pick between Paris Hilton & Natalie Portman.. I'd have to go with the chick that didn't turn a $500k Bentley into a pink nightmare. You gotta love PETA.. otherwise we wouldn't have hot nude chicks as public ads.

If I had to pick only one, it would have to be brains. Just like others have said...looks change over time (aging is a part of life...no easy way to avoid it), but you can't fix stupid!!!

Though, a good mix is ideal. Somewhere between a "know-it-all", and a "brown bagger" .

You're young. most of the guys I work with will admit it willingly.. but they've been married 20+ years. Of course, they're wives think they're idiots as well. Maybe opinions change as you get older.. look at Hefner. Of course, I doubt he tries to get into intelligent conversations with his bimbos.

I'll say brains, because I tend to be attracted to more independent girls who have a head on their shoulders versus a girl who may have looks but is immature and clingy

You got my vote Whiskey!

Definitly brains. And am I the only one in here that thinks aging can be beautiful? I like crows feet and smile lines.

I also think women who are very intelligent are for the most part beautiful as well.

Bad boy, Terry!

We'll be discussing this over dinner tonight, and no dessert for you until you howl to the moon and all the world that you've been a fool, for after all.... I have both!

That's it! The engagement is on hold!

Smile I trully feel brains make a person more attractive.

In my opinion, intelligence, sophistication and any intangible human quality is what I find most attractive in any person. Some day I will be older and my youth will be gone. I am working towards the peace of mind, body and soul to know that deep down I'm not self centered man who lusts for a youth I can never have back. If all that philosophy was too much, simply stated, I choose brains.

I do agree an intellegent conversation is attractive in a way but there is nothing worse than an ugly girl who thinks she's always right!
