So...I've been w/ my lady for almost 2 1/2 years now, and for the past 1.5 years, we have been having sex with her on BC and using NO condoms. Of course we started off using condoms. However, as time went on, we decided to go w/ BC and the people at Planned Parenthood never said anything about having to use condoms w/ BC, so we never do. Everytime we have sex, I bust inside. For the past 1.5 years, everything seems to be cool, but of course I'll get nervous when it comes to that last week . After reading rezurex's thread, I got nervous all of a sudden. Now, are you SUPPOSED to have sex w/ a condom if your lady is on BC? Because, my girl won't have sex w/ a condom any more. She says it hurts. Plus, we're spoiled now . For reals though, can people give me input here. Is it not safe what we're doing? I appreciate it everybody!

if its the bc pill..then there a 1% chance of getting her pregnant..my girl is on it...and we still use them and dont use them every now and then.....i use it as a double protection.....either way..dont want kids..use a condom....

 

The chance of getting her pregnant is always there no matter what you use. Birth control is only 95-99% effective depending on what she kind she uses.

Just to put it in perspective, in those 2-1/2 years I'm pretty sure you've more than 100 times.

i always use one. ALWAYS. but then again, i'm not in a "monogamous" relationship, so i have to protect from potential std's too.

it's better safe than sorry. there are so many factors with birth control, and it ISN'T 100% effective 100% of the time. just use a condom...

I've been with my wife for 16 years (dating + marriage) and The Pill was the sole source of birth control for about 15 of them. No children until she came off The Pill last year when we intended to have one.

The Pill is the best form of birth control shorth of surgical sterilzation. Yes, it's not 100% effective over population studies, but used correctly it is nearly 100% effective for individuals. Failures (ie: pregnancies) typically have occured after improper use.

What does used correctly mean?:

A person needs to take The Pill about the same time every 24 hours to maintain effective hormonal levels.

If you're sick and barf up a Pill, or if you miss a pill you can double up on the next one. If you miss two then you need another form of birth control for that month or no sex. Frankly, I don't trust things after missing one.

You as the partner/husband/spouse need to bug your partner/wife EVERY night and ask if they took their pill. A nice reminder goes a long way. We agreed long ago that she wouldn't get annoyed if I ask if she took her pill.

My girl and I have discussed the whole pregnancy thing many times, and she for one HATES kids. I love em, but I'd NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER, would want any at this point in my life. We have agreed that we'd get an abortion and we'd split the costs if it ever occured It's just I would never want her to go through that, you know? It's such a horrible situation to be in, even if you're dead set on getting an abortion. Either way, it sucks. But yeah, I don't like nuttin outside either. It takes away from the orgasm I guess we're just gonna continue what we do best!

here's a couple of questions.

how big of a window is there for taking the pill? does it have to be up to the minute? or w/i the hour, etc...?

also, what if she's traveling like to europe or somewhere far? will the time difference make a difference and she'll have to change the time when she takes the pill?

 

I think within a few hours work out OK. Just don't switch from morning to evening every other day. As long as she takes it before bed, or in the morning when she wakes, it'll work fine.

My wife takes her pill at night -- when we travel to Europe she keeps with our local time and takes her pill in the morning. YMMV...

No problem, just be consistent.

I think it's easier to remember to take a pill with either the morning or evening routine (wash, brush teeth, take pill...) then just at a set time. My wife has her pills on the bedside table and swallows one before bed.

The other critical thing is to remember to pack the pills when going on vacation. It sucks to arrive somewhere across the country and be without your pills and then have to resort to other methods. Traveling without pills has only happened once to us -- good thing it's easy for me to get another Rx...

btw, my girl just says using a condom feels different, not neccessarily uncomfortable. She's on the pill and she says 'either pull out before busting or use a rubber.' So since i don't want a kid any more than she does, i agreed that's a good idea. sometimes i wrap it and bust inside, sometimes i pull and bust outside and i must say the first feels better for me.
